My fiance and I decided to marry in St. Lucia and took my teenage sons. The Almond Morgan Bay Resort was wonderful. The staff that handled our wedding was excellent. We had deluxe ocean view rooms which were very comfortable two room suites with balconies. The restaurants in the resort are quite good, the staff is very friendly and helpful, service was good to excellent, the water sport sign up was easy and available, the 4 pools are great, and the "all-inclusive" aspect fantastic. Bring your own tennis racquets and can of balls, as well as table tennis paddles and balls. The fitness center was pretty well equipped. In general, a wonderful 4 star experience with a big smile.

Our purpose for visiting the island was to get married. We wanted to stay in a luxury hotel that was not over priced. We wanted to holiday somewhere that was close to local amenities and not on a resort that was too remote. The Royal stood up to our expectations and was by far one of the nicest 4* hotels we have stayed in. We arrived late in the evening and our bed had been sprinkled with petals, a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine (on ice) were waiting for us in our room. We had expected this on the eve of our wedding but I think the staff were a little premature as this was not repeated (to our disappointment!). Our room was a decent size, very clean and well presented. The bed was a large king-size and very comfortable. At the beginning of our vacation the hotel was very quiet, as it was the start of the holiday season. Towards the end of our stay the hotel became busy and we did notice a drop in the level of service. There also seemed to be an influx of children who were of varying ages. Whilst we have no problems with family orientated hotels we were under the impression that The Royal was predominantly for couples. It did not seem the appropriate place for children to be playing ball games in the well-maintained gardens. This was the only negative part of our stay, as we wanted a romantic getaway. We would return to The Royal or try another Rex Resort based on our time in St Lucia.

We would highly recommend the Coco Palm for best value for the $. The grounds and pool were beautiful, quite and relaxing. We would NOT RECOMMEND staying in the 'Creole' side of the hotel. It is extremely old and night and day from the main area of the hotel. Upon check-in we were placed in a Creole room - it was old and gross, nothing comfortable about it and woke up to a bathroom full of bugs... The hotel management went above and beyond to fix the problem and moved us to the main area of the hotel. From then on I would give the hotel a complete thumbs-up. The hotel food was fabulous. The only other things to be mindful of here is to make sure you ask if it is Happy Hour (5-6). We ordered a drink literally at 4:59 and were charged full price. Also, all prices were quoted in US$, then when you check out it is converted back to EC and then on your credit card US $ - which means they are playing the exchange rate (approx. 2.6 EC to 1 USD)up a lot! Robney Bay was AWESOME. I would recommend not renting a car and staying local to the hotel/resort.
