The office staff was sometimes slow in responding to emails before our arrival. When we reserved dinner locations, we had to email 3 or 4 times to get a response. The resort itself was very nice. There was plenty of opportunity to do water sports. Food selection was not very varied. For people who do not like spicey foods, there was very little selection. Wonderful evening entertainment. Great salon.

We will never return to the Royal St. Lucia or St. Lucia. Prepare to be hassled by vendors both on and off the beach. One night while staying there, we heard a women screaming and crying for help in the courtyard.I called the front desk and within a matter of minutes, the resort was crawling with security. While I appreciate the beach cops, it was apparent that this area is not safe.We also found that as Americans, we were treated differently by the staff. There were tons of British that were staying at the resort and we noticed they were given better courtesy than us.The beach was so-so.Honestly we had the best seating area on the beach, however forget about taking long walks on the beach...very small. If you're thinking of renting a car, don't. ALSO, don't leave the property by yourself. St. Lucia boasts great shopping and activities...we didn't see any because it was extremely shady. For example, one afternoon we followed the direction of the tour books and thought, let's drive down to Soufriere to see the Grand Pitons. Again, to keep this short, we were almost robbed. DON'T GO OFF THE RESORT DRIVING ALONE. If you must, do it with a guide. The restort failed to tell us this and failed to tell us that tours were available. I'm not sure if it was because of our age, we are in our mid to late 20's, or if they just didn't care for Americans, but I would warn against making your next vacation St. Lucia.

Myself and my wife stayed at the St Lucian by Rex for 7 nights. The room was a little out dated and needed a bit of an upgrade but we only used it to sleep so we didnt have a problem with it at all. The housekeeping staff were excellent and cleaned the room every day (plus changed the sheets and towels). The air conditioner wasnt working properly when we got there but it was fixed within a couple of hours after we told the front desk. The maintenance staff (housekeepers, gardeners etc.) and the security staff were extremely nice but the bartenders, front desk and restaurant staff were very rude and unpleasant. It didnt bother us too much as we didnt get all inclusive and just ate out at different bars and restaurants every day. There was a small convenience store around the corner so we just bought some cereal and milk and had breakfast in our room each morning. The location was perfect and the beach was amazing. We spent all of our time on the beach and almost no time in the pool (why swim in a pool when you have a crystal clear ocean right outside your room?). Overall, the resort met our needs. As long as your a pretty easy going person who likes to get and explore and doesnt expect to be pampered, this place is perfect for you.

We would highly recommend the Coco Palm for best value for the $. The grounds and pool were beautiful, quite and relaxing. We would NOT RECOMMEND staying in the 'Creole' side of the hotel. It is extremely old and night and day from the main area of the hotel. Upon check-in we were placed in a Creole room - it was old and gross, nothing comfortable about it and woke up to a bathroom full of bugs... The hotel management went above and beyond to fix the problem and moved us to the main area of the hotel. From then on I would give the hotel a complete thumbs-up. The hotel food was fabulous. The only other things to be mindful of here is to make sure you ask if it is Happy Hour (5-6). We ordered a drink literally at 4:59 and were charged full price. Also, all prices were quoted in US$, then when you check out it is converted back to EC and then on your credit card US $ - which means they are playing the exchange rate (approx. 2.6 EC to 1 USD)up a lot! Robney Bay was AWESOME. I would recommend not renting a car and staying local to the hotel/resort.
