The Hilton is a great place for a family vacation. If you don't mind the prices and a huge resort (our family calls it the 'Hilton Walkalotta' you'll love the incredidible setting, activities, and magical setting. The restaurants can be a little spotty (the most dismal and pathetic teppanyaki performance I've ever seen!) and the food is nothing to write home about, but you don't go there for the food. Try a couple's massage by the sea as the sun sets--bliss!

The beautiful hotel and staff was welcoming from the first day of arrival on thru departing. Very friendly and helpful service at every turn of the hotel. The tropical landscaping is lush to behold, relaxing to be around the pools, and it's own protected small sandy beach is so pleasant for a swim or just take in the sunsets. I loved everything about staying at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort. It also was close to shopping and heading out to adventure at other beaches and parts of the Kahalo coast side of Hawaii.

This hotel would definitely be classified as a luxury resort. The grounds were simply beautiful. The rooms were well maintained, clean and spacious. The side of the hotel we stayed on did not have the best garden view but it was palatable. The staff were gracious and friendly from the moment we arrived. We received a flower lei, to their delight the kids received a candy lei as well. The conceirge were very helpful with any of our request and provided us with detailed directions for touring the island by rental car. We were always warmly greeted upon our return from any day excursion.

The room was classy, the bed extremely comfortable, the lanai had an ocean view looking out past the swimming pool. The grounds were immaculate with sweet smelling plumeria trees and flowering bushes everywhere. The pool rents out masks and snorkels for $2.50 per day and you can snorkel right off the hotel property by a small coral reef, great fun for snorklers who do not get in the water much as you can get your feet down pretty quickly if you need to get back to shore, felt safe. We even got close to a green turtle. There is a small hiking path that leads to the more prestigious Mona Kea Resort, which has a killer beach bar (nice reward at the end of the hike) You do need a car here as it is somewhat isolated if you want to venture into Kailua, Kona or further up the coast. There was quite a bit of "VOG" volcanic fog on the island but it did not come up to the Kohala Coast so that made it even nicer. The golf course at the resort is fun, but one definately needs a cart as the distances between each hole can be quite long. All in all we had a great time and it was so relaxing compared to the rest of the island and Maui. We highly recommend it for location, peace and beach.

We chose the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for our honeymoon. We stayed 8 nights and it felt like 2! I definitely wasn't ready to leave. The accommodations are the perfect blend of island style and upscale comfort. The beach was the best we found on the island and the resort amenities were top notch. I can't wait to go back.

My husband and I have stayed here 4 times. It is a very quiet and relaxing resort. If you like to snorkel, they have a beach that is a great place. The grounds at the resort have ancient fishponds.
