We booked our stay only a few weeks out and were a bit tenatitve about what it would be like. We got an ocean-view room w/a balcony, and we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! The resort had a laid-back feel to it, yet the rooms were up-to-date and comfortable. It was perfect for us. We spent each day laying on the beach at the hotel and never felt crowded. In fact, most of the time we had all the room we wanted to enjoy the sun and water even though the resort was full. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and water bottles provided daily. There was a free breakfast every morning with amble choices; hot coffee, juices, cereals, muffins, scrambled eggs & bacon, toast, fresh fruit, etc. We look forward to going back again and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in the Keys now that we've stayed here! Loved it. From our room, our view, the friendly staff and the comfortable laid-back atmosphere... everything exceeded our expectations.

This resort has a wonderful reputation and I'm afraid has been living on the reputation for a long time. Unfortunately, the resort does not deliver a 4-star experience any longer and is a very average place that charges 4-5 star prices. The food in the restaurant is very over-priced. The drinks are over-priced and there are additional charges for everything. For example, if you wish to rent a kayak or small sailboat, you are charged $55 on top of the resort fee. Other than the use of the pool and beach (which has no sand and contains very sharp rocks if you want to wade in the water, it's a mystery what the "resort fee" really includes. The room was small. It was recently upgraded, but the ceiling fan light didn't work, the towels were very worn and scratchy and the linens were old and worn. This is NOT a 4-star experience. The maid service was not good. No new towels were provided and the room wasn't cleaned or touched one day until they turned down the beds that weren't made earlier in the day and still no cleaning of the bathroom or towel replacement. I would not go back again.

Nothing bad to say about this place. Loved the beach and the bars in the resort, especially liked the on site Paddleboard rentals and the fact that it is a dog friendly resort. Many "dog friendly" places scare me but this place is extremely clean and well maintained. My dog and I will be back.

This is an awesome resort. Very nice and clean. Many things to do at the resort. And a lot of restaurants around the area. A must go resort if your going to islander.
