The Hilton is a great place for a family vacation. If you don't mind the prices and a huge resort (our family calls it the 'Hilton Walkalotta' you'll love the incredidible setting, activities, and magical setting. The restaurants can be a little spotty (the most dismal and pathetic teppanyaki performance I've ever seen!) and the food is nothing to write home about, but you don't go there for the food. Try a couple's massage by the sea as the sun sets--bliss!

The beautiful hotel and staff was welcoming from the first day of arrival on thru departing. Very friendly and helpful service at every turn of the hotel. The tropical landscaping is lush to behold, relaxing to be around the pools, and it's own protected small sandy beach is so pleasant for a swim or just take in the sunsets. I loved everything about staying at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort. It also was close to shopping and heading out to adventure at other beaches and parts of the Kahalo coast side of Hawaii.

This hotel would definitely be classified as a luxury resort. The grounds were simply beautiful. The rooms were well maintained, clean and spacious. The side of the hotel we stayed on did not have the best garden view but it was palatable. The staff were gracious and friendly from the moment we arrived. We received a flower lei, to their delight the kids received a candy lei as well. The conceirge were very helpful with any of our request and provided us with detailed directions for touring the island by rental car. We were always warmly greeted upon our return from any day excursion.

The hotel is situated in a secluded area. Very private and quiet. Hotel staff at the front desk were friendly and polite. I did encounter a little rudeness and unprofessional manner from the staff in the Cafe Terrace during breakfast. Other than a rude and unfriendly encounter with these two particular employees, everyone else was warm and hospitable towards me. There were some mold in the shower and in the bath tub in our room. This is totally unacceptable for a four star hotel. Hotel staff gave us a free room upgrade. I did enjoy my stay overall. So much privacy at the resort.

A classy and picturesque resort. The crescent beach here is fantastic: beautiful, secluded, and clean. There are coral reefs at either end that are great for casual snorkeling, while the majority of the beach is an unbroken stretch of soft, clean sand. Our room was recently renovated, but in the bathroom some of the renovations were already showing wear. Service is generally, but not universally, friendly. Food prices at the resort are very high, but this is to be expected in Hawai'i at a beautiful resort.

Having just completed a four-island tour of Hawaii, we were thrilled to have capped our stay at the Kona Four Seasons. The resort is a very short drive from the Kona airport and is just past a gated entrance that helps keep the resort private and secluded. The attention of the staff is phenomenal. From the golf cart tour of the property upon our arrival to the extremely high quality of the room cleaning and turn-down service, we could not have been happier. The bed was extremely comfortable, the infinity pool was spectacular, and the resort is well situated on the west side of the island for epic sunsets each night. The beach was a bit on the rocky side for our liking, but the quality of the pools more than made up for it. I recommend either of the beachside restaurants. Although I thought the service could have been a bit quicker at times, the facilities were comfortable and the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet each morning was also a highlight. It was very easy to let ourselves get pampered at this resort, and we had absolutely no desire to leave during our three night stay. Although the rates are higher, the extra service and sheer beauty of the facility is well worth the stay.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our six-day stay at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows in February. The property was beautiful and well maintained, with open, airy lobby and atrium. Grounds surrounding the resort were manicured and blended in well with the ecology. Our ocean front room on the 4th floor had a wonderful view of the beach and the bay from both inside the room and the lanai, where we saw migrating whales in the distance several times. There was a small fridge (empty) in our room for us to store snacks and other drinks besides the complimentary bottle water provided by the resort, which was a plus. Twice a day, our room was meticulously cleaned and made up. The resort also lived up to its eco-friednly label by having recycling bin in our room to promote recycling. Everyone working at the resort was very friendly and very service oriented. We particularly loved our wait person at the bountiful breakfast buffet, who remembered our name and made us felt "at home". Managers of various on-site restaurants stopped by while we dined to ensure that we were happy with the services and the food. We also received wonderful assistance from the concierage to plan and book our excurions and dinners outside of the resort. Overall, we were extremely happy with our choice for our first trip to the Big Island and will definitely stay again at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows when we return.

We stayed 10 nights at the Sheraton Keahou bay resort and enjoyed it thoroughly. The only glitch in the trip was that we upgraded to a ocean view room and were initially given a partial ocean view room. Upon complaining they did upgrade us on the second night. The resort has good food value versus other resorts. Kids even eat free at the Mantaray Grill poolside, and also at the kai restaurant for breakfast when adults purchase their meals. The location was perfect for our first visit to the big island, as it allowed us to experience Kona and many local restaurants and beaches....we didn't feel like we were confined to the resort. This is not an extremely fancy resort, but is very nice, clean, comfortable and represents great value.

We stayed for a week in a 2BR, 2bath suite. It was beautiful, large, with everything we needed: full kitchen, washer/dryer, every toiletry you could need. Housekeeping came in daily and cleaned thoroughly--scrubbing floors, vacuuming, cleaning the whole kitchen--they really did a good job. The suite itself was beautiful, with granite counters and tile/Pergo floors. The main bath had a glassed in shower and a huge soaker tub. We had two less than ideal experiences here. First, a bug that looked an awful lot like a cockroach was trapped in the display panel of our stove. After asking maintenance to come see a couple times, and the bug not coming out for them, I just skooshed it. But then it was skooshed in the display panel, so we asked them to clean it out. They never did get around to it. Secondly, on the last day we had arranged for a late check out. Somehow this info didn't get through, and we were locked out while down at the pool. Then housekeeping insisted on coming in and calling the front desk to verify that we could check out late, and was very difficult to get out so we could shower and move along. I nearly had to physically nudge her out. Otherwise, though, it was great. THe nearby Hilton resort had so many attractions we never got to them all. Do rent a car so you can get around. The grocery store in Waimea is good for families. Have fun!
