This Resort is very good. Me and my two daughters stayed their for 5days, and had a great time. The rooms are a little dated, the food was OK, and the entertainment team was very good! Try to book your flight directly to La Romana. Its a 2 1/2 hr drive from sdq airport. Also if you want to get your kids hair braided go to the public beach next door, theres a nice lady who would give you a cheap price. The Spa gave me a hard time for an appointment.

I really liked this place, its middle of no where and surrounded by forest. Very safe, Great food, great sandy & crystal clear water beach. Planty of space for all the guest at the pool and at the beach. I would go back as the price for this all inclusive resort was the best deal I have ever found. Not for Singles looking to meet people, but you can make friends to chat.

We were extremely satisfied with this hotel and all the services it provided. The hotel property was very beautiful and very well kept. There were many beautiful birds around the property that we really enjoyed watching and feeding. There were many stores for souvenir shopping and a photography shop if you want some professional pictures done. The rooms were really clean. The first room we got didn't have a working air conditioner so it was pretty warm and humid, but the reception changed our room at our request without any hesitation or problems. The food at the buffet was very good and the specialty restaurants were excellent as well. They did show cooking at the Japanese which was very entertaining. The steaks at the steak house and the mexican restaurant was really good. The entertainment team was really fun and interactive. The evening shows were great as well, there was a lot of variety. The tour desk at the hotel offers many great trips if you want to see something outside the resort (not included in the price of the resort). The beach is really good, although there are some rocks and shells at the bottom but if you swim out further there is a sand bar with smooth sand and no rocks. Overall, we are very happy we picked this hotel and would definitely recommend it.

This place does everything right. The staff is superb - gracious, helpful - and, for such an enormous resort with so many activities, everything was extremely well-organized. It was very impressive. My only critique is that we went in the off-season (beginning of June) and many of the restaurants in the main area were closed. Fair enough - but the quality of the food in the only available restaurants was really, really horrible. Like what you might expect in a lunchroom or a low-rent catering hall. Extremely disappointing for a resort of this caliber. If you are willing to venture beyond the main area (and you should for a variety of reasons!) then you will find some really great food. "El Pescador", "La Piazzetta", "Limoncello" were all excellent - and are a 10-15 minute golf-cart ride away from the main area.

I just arrived from my 7 day, 6 night stay at this resort earlier this morning. I have to say that the employees are very friendly and helpful! Also, the rooms are nice in the Palace, better than the Beach, there was a plasma with lots of english channels, and channels in italian and french etc. Our maid was very friendly and nice, every day she would make a different type of animal out of the towels (swans mostly) also, she would put flowers in it and make them unique. It was very lovely of her. Also, the food is GREAT! especially the cheese and pizza, and menu options at the restuarants. You will never go hungry at this hotel because there is something open at every hour! the pizzeria is open from 7 pm until 7 am and breakfast is from 7 am until 11 and snack bar opens from 10 am until 1 am and lunch is from 12:30 until 3 pm and dinner is from 7 until 10. Also, there are lots of activities. I went windsurfing and it was included in the resort so it was free. It was great and i would recommend it for everyone however, its cheaper to buy souvenirs right outside the hotel in the gift shop called Jomary. the lady there was very nice too. Also, there are lots of italians, so it means lots of smoking and guys in speedos so if you find that uncomfortable then dont go during August, since thats when Europeans have vacation. Also, no one seems to have shame or care much about body imperfections, so you can still wear a bikini even with stretch marks, cellulite etc.

Viva Wyndham resort is very nice. My husband and my children were very happy due it is a family oriented resort. Surrounding are fantastic, food was very good and the menu have a full varieties of dishes even if it was in the same restaurant because we needed to make reservations 24 hours before and we did not have so much time to do that. Lunches at La Roca Grill were fabulous. Most of activities were in italian and spanish, but I speak spanish and love anything related to Italy. The beach was nice, very busy. Ocean was fantastic. Staff super-friendly, and taking care of their duties. Room was not that great, but everything funtioned accordingly. We wanted to enjoy the outside anyway. Shower and sleep in the room was all we needed. Front office was pleasant. The hotel is clean. We enjoyed the aperitivos on the beach and in the plaza while we were there which is champagne and hord'ovres. Resort offers several activities through the day and night. The gift shop inside the hotel have such great prices that I could not believe for basics and accessories. Gym looked well equipped. Resort have a Mini-Club that children can stay there form 10:00 to 6:00pm with a break for the staff in between which is fair enough. Beauty parlor have good prices, but I found better outside since I like to bargain. This resort is great for families and well priced paid.

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Dominicus! It caters mostly to European tourists and it felt like we were the only Americans there which was a plus for us! The pizzeria/Italian restaraunt was fabulous, the beach was beautiful, the staff was extremely friendly (but mostly spoke spanish, french and Italian though it was never a problem). All in all this resort was a mini-Europe in the caribbean.... best of both worlds. We will definately go back.

the resort is beautifully maintained. Alll the staff were friendly and helpful. This resort is remote, so be aware that there is no where to go to right outside the resort. you can take a 20 minutes ride to San pedro or 30 min. to la romana proper. the beach was nice, pool is immense and the ground are well maintianed. The food at all the restaurants is very good with a good variety that changes daily. I would caution about the tours. we took the plantation tour which was horrible and a complete rip off. we aske d for half our money back, and with some insistance did recieve a refund. this had nothing to do with the resort itself. over all this is a great place to stay especially for the money.
