My husband and I stayed at the grand geneva resort for 2 nights to visit the lake geneva area. The resort was decorated for Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the decorations! We also loved the live music each night (especially the dueling pianos!) We didn't eat in any of the restaurants, but we did order room service. The food was tasty and the service was impeccable. Also, the TV imbedded in the bathroom mirror was very cool, even though we didn't use it much. Overall, we had a really good time, but the resort seemed like it needed some updating, in general. In particular, the gym and pool were both small and crowded, and reminded me more of the university gym instead of a resort area. I didn't visit the rest of the spa, which may be nicer. It was certainly busy with happy patrons! We'll probably return because we loved Lake Geneva (downtown is just a few minutes away), but with adjusted expectations.

What a farce. We went to the Timber Ridge resort for a weekend away with our 3 year old son, only to find that we were sharing this family friendly resort with hundreds (literally) of recovering alcoholics who were attending a 'Soberfest' conference. Everywhere we turned, from the pool, to the shuttle buses, to the cafes and restaurants, we were surrounded by groups of chain smoking conference attendees old soaks who kept asking if we were attending too - conveniently the management didn't inform us of this at the time of booking. Maybe they should replace all the photos of kids in the pool on their web site with images of gloomy middle aged people congregating outside the hotel doors as the smoke furiously in between AA group hugs.
