We stayed at Grand Resort for one night over Memorial Day weekend. We live in Chicago and just wanted a mini-getaway. Prices were reasonable but still a little expensive for Lake Geneva. It may have been the holiday weekend though. We thought the hotel was very nice and that the room was a decent size with very very comfortable beds/linens. The bathroom was a little small and the tv was very low on its stand that you could just barely see the whole screen while laying in bed. Bathroom and tv not huge issues though - more so thought it was strange about tv if anything. We ate at Brassico (the italian restaurant) and thought it was well-priced and the food was really really great! The pool and hot tub was great too (there is indoor and outdoor pool). My husband golfed the Highlands course and really liked that and thought good price. I went to spa and had massage and facial. Very nice service but it was pretty expensive. Overall, really thought it was a great place for getting away for a night (may be two) and would definetly consider going back.

What a farce. We went to the Timber Ridge resort for a weekend away with our 3 year old son, only to find that we were sharing this family friendly resort with hundreds (literally) of recovering alcoholics who were attending a 'Soberfest' conference. Everywhere we turned, from the pool, to the shuttle buses, to the cafes and restaurants, we were surrounded by groups of chain smoking conference attendees old soaks who kept asking if we were attending too - conveniently the management didn't inform us of this at the time of booking. Maybe they should replace all the photos of kids in the pool on their web site with images of gloomy middle aged people congregating outside the hotel doors as the smoke furiously in between AA group hugs.
