Great hotel, comfortable room with balcony. We stayed 3 nights and had a great time in Lake Placid. Beds were very comfortable. Room was clean and well equipped with fridge and microwave. Hotel staff were great with the exception of front desk where they seemed somewhat dissinterested and not the usual friendly/helpful staff you would expect in a resort area. No big deal though since we only dealt with them at check in and check out. Breakfast was very good and always well stocked and clean. No line ups altough the hotel was not full during our stay. Pool and hot tub were very good also. Our room was in the front building behind hotel office and not in the main building. We had a balcony with view of the road with mountains in background. Nice to sit out in the evening. We were able to park right outside the door of our room which is a nice convenience. Only drawback is that you have to walk outside and uphill to the main building for breakfast and pool. This was no big deal for us but will be a consideration for elderly travelers or those with mobility issues. Location was right for us being on the main road into town. Gas station nearby and grocery store just up the road so we were able to stock up for picnic lunch every day. Short drive to downtown shopping area so if you want to be able to walk from hotel to shopping then stay downtown. We used a few of the coupons for local attractions that were available in the hotel office and saved a good bit of money. Especially valuable for families. The hotel has a dock on the lake with free canoes, paddle, and row boats. We did not use them but they looked well maintained. All in all had a great experience at this hotel and that contributed to our enjoyment of our holiday.
