I recently (end of November, 2011) made a reservation for my brother-in-law, his wife, and 4 children (aged 16, 14, 13 and 11) to stay at Noah's Ark during a 4-night visit to Hong Kong. We opted for the 4-person dormitory-style accommodation and booked two interconnecting units. Their feedback was that the word 'dormitory'-style is not flattering for what is essentially very clean, comfortable, well-equipped, perfectly adequate accommodation. If you are the sort of snooty person who wants 'plushness' and spends unnecessary hours in your accommodation rather than going out to discover Hong Kong and its wonderful surrounding attractions, then I would be surprised if you didn't realise what the accommodation is really like! Anyway; they were very pleased with their stay there. One issue that they did feel presented the occasional problem was that there was no one there with a profficiency of English to deal with problems or queries; forgive me if that reflects a very English critical viewpoint, but most destinations in the world seem to recognise it as an advantage. The only other issue was 'access' by road to Noah's Ark. Although I am aware that the government-controlled road is not something that the resort can control, it surprises me that some form of limited alternative (taxi) transport cannot be negotiated to and from Ma Wan Island. (Connected with this matter was also the fact that finding the entrance to the accommodation was not easy, especially as they arrived quaite late at night and given the 'lack of English' situation. Returning to the 'access' logistics; it was not a problem to take the excellent ferry connection to Hong Kong Island, but it was somewhat inconvenient to have to use the the shuttle bus on each of the other days to go back to HKG airport to then pick up other transport to places such as Disneyland, the Cable Car Terminal to go to Ngong Ping, et cetera. The ages of my brother-in-law's children made it relatively tolerable to get about; but for those with younger children, consider your itinerary carefully before staying there. However, all-in-all, it was generally agreed by our party that Noah's Ark accommodation and the whole Ma Wan Island set-up was EXCELLENT!
