My stay here was lovely, I had a garden bure which was beautifully furinished and although I had to change bures due to a/c not working on my first day, the rest of the stay went without a hitch. Flowers on bed and linin is a great touch and on the whole the room was clean although when I moved the TV there was a thick line of dust and the corners of the room and batheroom could do with more of a clean. Be careful of the screen blind in your room as it is still see-through when you have the light on and its dark! Lovely complimentary toiletries and coffee provided. TV in room great if its raining out. Bed was very confortable and linin was supberb. The dowdnside of this resort was ultimately the quality of the food, it is not worth buying the full board option in my opinion and for the quality, the food is overpriced. This is not the fault of the cooks - they are staff who are doing their best but they are clearly not chefs which is what the price commands. I ate lunches at the other resort which is a brief stroll away (unable to walk at night as no lighting) but the food there was great. I never had breakfast at either resort and most nights there was special buffet meal which included deserts/all you can eat/coffee. this was relatively good value. I had friends who stayed in the expensive rooms which had fantastic views. although their complimentary robes were removed after the first night and their spa never worked at all. The manager was rarely seen although he occasionally greeted those who stayed in the expensive sea view bures. In my opinion, the exterior & landscape of the resort needs work, gardens were tidy but not landscaped and the pool area was spoilt by exposed dirty pillar bases and scuffed walls and flooring. The pool was lovely and the pool towels were of a good quality and a nice touch. The furnishings inside the main resort were in need of replaceing. Most furniture was not matching and cushions were limp and marked. This became more noticable after my visit to the other resort where matching furniture and pool loungers were perfect and more appealing. Complimentary kayak use was great but the snorkel hire was a littel cheeky. I stayed 4 nights and I would have to say though that I got a good deal. For the price I would visit again, although I would take more food with me from the mainland or eat at the other resort.

This resort could be so much more enjoyable if they could just cook some edible food! We chose not to take the meal plan but found ordering from the 'menu' consisted of them taking whatever was on the buffet and putting it on a plate with a side of mashed potato. Everything comes with a side of mashed potato on plantation island. Because we were not on the meal plan, we were largely ignored at the restaurant, found it difficult to place an order, and then had to wait up to 45 minutes for something that looked like it came from the buffet, was almost cold (like the buffett) and included a side of mashed potato. We spoke to a number of other quests who also complained of the food so I don't think we were being particularly picky. There are thankfully other resorts on the island to dine at, but if you are on a budget, take plenty of snacks to eat pre-dinner! Our stay was quite enjoyable but I would not stay here again because of the standard of food.

The staff at the resort are lovely - well, that's until you want something. Even if it's a simple as to pay your bill they look completely put out to do anything for you. Saying that, the resort is comfortable and quite nice. The rooms were kept tidy and the grounds were very nice. The resort is on an island, so don't expect that you'll be able to buy anything anywhere. You'll have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort (or pay FJD$9 for a packet of pringles!). So take some snacks with you. Also, make sure you don't buy souviners at the shop - it's about 4 x the price of the mainland - right by where the ferry will drop you off. I would recommend this resort to families or couples. The island is amazing and is the perfect place to laze by the beach or pool and do nothing

Before going to the Beachcomber Hotel we couldn't find many reviews online so we had to resort to personal experiences and comments from friends and co-workers. Most didn't have much more infomation besides it was the "party island" but still beautiful, since it's Fiji! We weren't really looking for a party 24/7, but wanted to have the option to party at night if we felt up to it. The Beachcomber was PERFECT for what we were looking for. It was our own private slice of paradise, we got a beachfront Bure with an amazing view of the sunset every night. The Bula Band was so much fun, every night (fri, sat, & sun) there was great (optional!) entertainment. Any activity you would want is available on the island; massages, scuba diving, mani/pedi's, FREE snorkeling, parasailing (recommend it!), sea kayaking, and island hopping tours! Granted, it may not be 5 star living, it is perfect for a weekend getaway. I give it a solid 3 stars as far as luxury standards, but it is a very exclusive island and frankly, the best way to experience the Mamanuca islands of Fiji. I would definitely go back, and in a perfect world, bring all my closest friends and family and just take the island OVER!!! The backpacker dorms were on the same island not too far from where our private Bure was - we walked by them one night and thought they looked really clean. I could definitely imagine having a great time staying there in my early 20's. The private Bure's were clean and provided everything you might need, including a fridge! Definitely BRING BUG SPRAY! They have some there to buy, but I got eaten alive the first night, since we sat on our private porch for a while after dark. It was truly my fault, but still, the Fijian mozzies are no joke. BULA! The Beachcomber Island Resort is sure to impress. :)
