This hotel/resort did not meet my expectations of a four star resort and did not compare well to other Hiltons where we have stayed. The staff, on the other hand, were great. From the cleaning staff to the kitchen staff they were all friendly and helpful. This is not an all inclusive resort and has different levels of "all inclusive" packages. With my package I could get almost anthing except for (inexplicably) bottled water. The buffett was the only real dinner option because it was not possible to get reservations at the resteraunts unless they were for 9:00 (which was difficult with kids). The bottem line is that I would not stay here again nor would I recomend this resort.

I read a lot of the reviews for his place before we came. My wife and I went along with another couple and we had a wonderful time. A lot of the reviews I think are far harsher than they should be. This resort is a value, and as such, it will not have everything that a five star resort will have. If you make the comparison to a Sandals or something comparable the Sun Spree resort will pale in comparison. I say this not disparagingly but just to get you in the right frame of mind. The resort itself was clean and I found the staff to be friendly and accomodating. The beach area was fantastic and very large. The adults only pool was nice and secluded from the main area.As with every all inclusive resort I've been to, the drinks were small and it almost felt necessary to buy a mug from the gift shop (or bring your own from home if you plan ahead) so that you aren't tethered to the bar area. The food was decent but nothing remarkable which is the only improvement I wish they could make. They have an Italian, Spanish, and Jamacian themed restaurants. I found the Italian and Jamacian restaurants to be about the equivalent of a standard American chain restaurant. I did not go to the Spanish restaurant so I can not speak on that. As for the buffet, I found myself eating from the omelette and pasta bars which was both good and bad. I enjoyed the food from each, but wished for better variety. It is what you think it is...a 3-4 star resort thats a good value. Enjoy it!!!!!

Loved the staff. Francios (resident mgr) was great and a pleasure to speak with. Made himself available everyday for short chats...very personable. The resort & it's grounds were impeccably clean. Small renovations/improvements are going on, but never interupted our stay. Tennis court needs resurfacing and sign posted stated it was in progress. Food was good at the resort, but a bit high in price we thought. We can't compare to the other resorts as this was our first time in Jamaica, but are being told by frequent travelers to Jamaica it's the same across the board. If you are looking to relax at a small, quaint, well maintained resort, with tropical scenery with a beautiful beach setting, as a couple or adult group Coyaba is it! Very convenient to airport and downtown Mobay too!

Round Hill is an incredible small resort just outside of Montego Bay (half hour drive from the airport). It is made up of mostly privately owner and rented villas, complete with staff and many have their own pools. You can rent the whole villa or a la carte by individual bedroom. Many have their own private pools. The staff in our villa (cottage #5) was fantastic ( a cook, a maid and a gardener) and cooked a gourmet breakfast every morning. We had a panoramic view of the ocean and a huge private lap pool. The resort itself is an old world, classy and formal place (no shorts after 7pm) and you feel like you are stepping back in time! The decor is the kind of informal elegance that you would expect from a 5-star Caribbean resort. Ralph Lauren liked Round Hill so much, he owns 2 villas and is in residence throughout the winter. Highlights are afternoon tea, cocktails before dinner and the many special dining events that occur throughout the week. Whether it was buffet or a la carte dining, the food was exceptional! We stayed for 5 nights and NEVER tired of the offerings. The service was impeccable! If you feel like venturing out, you could arrange transportation by private car (George is a fantastic and safe driver) to local sites, shopping and dining. The lobster trap is an fun local spot for grilled lobster right on the water and just a few mins from the resort, though Round Hill does a great job of this and many other Jamaican dishes during their beach BBQ's and Jamaican Night (complete with a floor show). Round Hill exceeded our every expectation and we hope to be back!!! If you are looking form a small, intimate resort with the feel of a private club, this is the place. It is expensive, so be prepared. Perfect for a splurge!

Was very pleased with this resort. Very clean and well maintained resort with extremely friendly and helpful personnel. Was not a 5 star resort in that the water pressure was weak and food was so-so. (The dining room was much better than the buffet). Not much nightlife at the resort as the disco was generally empty, but swim up bar in pool was great and the water trampoline was very fun. A/C in rooms was stellar.

Beautiful resort. We had Escape to Luxury package which was convenient and nice but bit pricey at booking however prices at the resort seemed even more pricey so package worth it. Had to sign for everything included in package which was not expected. Seemed like all employees serving drinks and meals expected extra tips even though bill stated tips included. Only two restaurants to eat..Horizon's and Mangos..both very good food and service. Excellent selection of dishes and drinks throughout stay. Beach was ok but water ruff and deep quick. Only one pool but large and refreshing. Very minimal activities and quiet which probably reflects the type of people who are attracted to The Ritz (not a bad thing). Basketball net terrible. White Witch a must if you're a golfer but pricey including private caddies..club rentals Taylor Made, spectacular holes with beautiful views. Took a day trip 1.5hr drive to Negril with cabbie..7mile beach at Margarita Ville bar, Jet Skis and Rick's Cafe jump and stunning sunset were well worth it! Jamaican people very friendly at the Ritz..poverty outside the resort..which makes it difficult to enjoy time outside resort. Need to watch your bill on check out (like any resort) as we had 'extra charges' for meals and drinks outside of our Esc pkg as other guests used/signed our rm number..which they did correct. It was our 2nd time to Jamaica and we enjoyed this time more but was also more pricey. Overall fantastic and would go back in a heart beat!

The sunset beach resort was a great place to stay. I went on vacation with just myself and my best friend. We were a little concerned about being two women alone on the resort however we felt very safe once we arrived. The staff was very friendly and very accomidating. The condition of the hotel was very good and always well kept. All of the common areas were kept clean. This was our first trip to Jamaica and this hotel far supassed our expectations. The only real complaint I had was that there aren't any clocks in the rooms or anywhere on the resort. The food was not the greatest. I stayed away from the buffet food and mostly ate at "The Grill" which offered a limited selection but had the better food. The few times I did eat at the buffet styled dinning, I was please by the friendly and accomidating service. Also, the resort doesn't have any vending machines nor do the have access to any AFFORDABLE snacks so be sure to take any snacks that you need for those late night munchies (especially if you participate in night activites. Food stops being served around 10 or 11pm)I also wasn't expecting that all the outside attractions would be so inexcessible. It was difficult and expensive and risky to leave the resort and visit other places outside the resort.

The staff was amazing, always going out of their way to make you happy. Our refrigerator wasn't working and we didn't say anything, but the housekeeper noticed and had it changed immediately. We wanted to be closer to our friends and requested a change, and were told that was usually an upgrade, but they did it immediately for us at no charge. Mario asked us if we were there for a specific reason and I told him that we and another couple came for our anniversary which had been a week earlier. He had our table decorated for dinner and brought us both a decorated cake and a bottle of champagne to our rooms. Most of the meals were very good, one or two weren't great, but everyone has different tastes and this won't keep us from coming back again. Room was always clean, beds were extremely comfortable. Just a relaxing resort. We saw people that requested something which the resort didn't have, but the staff went off the resort to get the item for them. Nice to have the resort so close to the airport. Check in and out went extremely fast. Great resort!

My husband and I visited the Grand Palladium Resort & Spa for a week in early Jan, 2010. The weather was perfect, mid 80s, mostly sunny with an occasional shower in the PM. The resort was beautiful, clean and well-maintained. The main pool is HUGE, its a great place to relax and has a nice swim up bar. There are a few other smaller pools on the resort too that also all have bars. The resort had mini golf, basketball & tennis courts, and a turf soccer field which we took advantage of. The spa looks really nice and has a great swim-through pool.We didn't know the difference between the Resort & Spa and Lady Hamilton. Turns out Lady Hamilton is on the side of the resort closer to some of the beaches - if you would like convenience to the beaches I would stay on the Lady Hamilton side if they are the same price.I was very happy there were many different restaurants to eat at within the resort - Asian, Indian, Creole, Steak, just to name a few. They also had about 3 buffets. My husband wasn't thrilled with the food, I thought it was fine. Our only "complaint" was the service was not spectacular, it was good, but probably not as good as if you had gone to a more expensive resort, but you get what you pay for and it wasn't bad by any means. The resort is about 2 hours away from Dun's River Falls, and 40 minutes away from Negril. It is over an hour ride to the airport. And there is not much right outside of the resort.Overall we had a great trip & would definitely recommend the resort!

The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton is a beautiful resort, and my wife and I had a great time. The facility is two resorts in one (the other being the Grand Palladium) which share ammenities, including the largest pool in Jamaica. We stayed in a seaside bungalow, which was definately worth the modest upgrade cost. For couples I highly recommend this upgrade, which will provide beachfront accomodations with a private patio, a huge jetted tub, and an outdoor shower, all in an "adult only" section of the resort. We did a wedding vow renewal while there, and if you are considering this or a wedding ask specifically for Reverend Vincent (marriage officer) and Kimberly (wedding coordinator) as they were excellent. Regardless of what you may hear tipping is expected, and make sure you tip yor front desk attendant well upon check-in to get a good room assigned. The resort is about 45 minutes from the airport, in a remote location, so do not expect to be able to enjoy anything off the resort without a fair bit of travel. There are tour companies that offer daily excursions to Negril, Ochio Rios, and other locations, just book these a day or two ahead. We used Jamaica Tours Limited and had no problems. This is an all inclusive resort including meals and beverages, and our only additional cost for our entire stay was a bottle of wine we ordered for one dinner, since we wanted something other than the hose wine.

This resort is almost unbeleivable for the price. The food was great, buffet was wonderful and there were alot of choices. The specialty restaurants while decent, were generally not better then the buffet. I could taste the authenticity of jamaica in the buffet food, not so much in the specialty restaurants. The service was pretty good for a resort that size. We ended breaking a glass in the room at around 10pm and they had some one come and clean it within 5-10 minutes. We stayed in an ocean view room and the view was phenominal. I would post pics if I could. But this was worth it. Im glad I didnt spend the extra money for sandals or secrets in Montego Bay. Anyone posting a negative comment about this resort must work for some rival resort because this place rocked. Having stayed at many resorts in DR, Cancun, Bahamas this rates about a 8. I only give it an 8 because the beach is not that nice but the water is still clear and overall the grounds were well maintained.

Great resort 3 properties on 3 blocks of ocean view, stayed in Rose Hall, the only compliments can be fixable. I had to wait 2 hrs for my room after I arrived, I was given a jr suite,Next the resort offers a shuttle bus to Margarita Ville that drops you off and pick you up at Margarita Ville,we were told by the hotel they have a fixed schedule leaving resort at 11pm and 12am,so my brother and I and other guest at the resort took the 11pm shuttle. The shuttle driver stopped at the other properties of Iberostar and also picked up other guest at different resorts along the way. The driver dropped us offed and specifically told us he would be back by 1am and 2am ,waiting for the bus and we where told the shuttle was full and could not accompany us back to resort, that we would have to find our own way back to resort. We were approached by several drivers, cabs and shuttles,so call giving us a discount, and we told them that we were not paying because the resort said free, free, costed us $35.00 US dollars. A system needs to be put in place with shuttle company. Otherwise this was a wonderful resort and I will go back and stay again. The employees, especially working in the food establishment, housekeeping, and room service are just awesome, front desk very friendly, but have to slowly warm up to you,but handle any request in a timely manner.

First, this is a fantastic resort. Stayed 7/24/11-7/29/11. I read reviews before going, but never found answers to some until I went. So, I hope this review is helpful. There are 3 Iberostar hotels here. We stayed in the “adults only†called the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall. All 3 resorts are connected & adults can use all the pools, bars, amenities at all 3 resorts. You can walk between resorts easily. Adults Only at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall. (Not Iberostar Beach & not the Iberostar Suites.) Ride from airport to hotel: About 30 minutes 24 hour room service! We took advantage every day. It was nice to have a bottle of champagne, club sandwich, coffee, many other options available anytime we wanted. Rooms are incredible. Clean, very large. Although you can view the ocean from every room, you have to move furniture on deck to far side to have a glimpse. Oh yeah, EVERY room has a swinging hammock chair for two. This was cool. Here is an important tip I wish I had known prior to going. Everyone has a butler. Make sure to call your butler for extra services you want. For example, you can have a bubble bath waiting for you after dinner if you request it. Your butler can arrange reservations at the restaurants. (Recommend this!) There are other services they can provide, but we didn’t utilize all of them. This is a very nice resort with great service. I will go to Iberostar resorts in the future. This was my first visit to one of these properties.

Because we were traveling with a child, we were upset that we couldn't stay at the Iberostar Grand, but, we soon learned that this resort would exceed our expectations. Though we booked 2 rooms with 2 double beds, they weren't available upon checking in, but, we were immediately given rooms with a King bed and a sofa bed which turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. When we contacted the front desk the next morning, they immediately offered us the doubles but declined because we were fine with the accommodations! The entire staff was AMAZING! I don't know if it's just a Jamaica thing in general but, we felt more like we were visiting a long-time friend's home as far as the hospitality goes! Also, there were many people (that wanted to socialize and have more fun) visiting our pool, beach and restaurants from the Iberostar Grand! That tells me that we got the better deal! I can't say it enough, the staff is amazing; staff at the front desk, the restaurant staff, bartenders, pool and beach staff, household and turn-down staff, the spa, EVERYONE!! The resort, the rooms and grounds are beautiful, well-furnished and decorated! The beach that this resort sits on is amazing! Clean water at a heavenly temperature! Lots of activities available; kayaking, snorkeling, archery, aerobics, etc. I definitely recommend! I would definitely stay at this resort again...in fact, they might have ruined me for other resorts because I may now hold them up to Iberostar's standard!

The hotel was basically perfect. The staff is unbelievably friendly and upbeat! We were welcomed by everyone that crossed our path - you feel right at home. The location is ideal! I'm not sure if any resort in the future will be able to live up to how beautiful the surrounding scenery is. The restaurants were clean and the food was delicious anywhere we went. The resort has activities planned thoughout the day which were a lot of fun to participate in. Personally, I enjoy upbeat music to be played all day long at the pool but they had a decent compromise of current pop music, reggae, a violinist and a keyboardist - on the flip side, there was a pool opposite ours that was relatively quiet for those that required to simply relax. We took a bike tour off the resort with 2 staff members and we felt completely safe in the surrounding neighborhood. We have been to another adult only, all-inclusive resort in Cancun but it was close to double the price and Secrets is just as beautiful. We have recommened this resort to everyone and will continue to do so!

My boyfriend and I went this month (July '10) and had a great time. Since it is a new hotel there were a few kinks to work out and right outside of the resort there's some construction. Our stay was excellent for a couple's resort. However, I would have appreciated it more if I were a little older and engaged or married. Lots of older couples (we're 23). We did have opportunities to meet younger folks outside of the resort though and had a blast on all of our tours in Jamaica. If you're in your late 20's and older or you're looking for a romantic place to spend with your significant other, I highly recommend Secrets. The rooms are comfy/cozy and the decor was pleasing to the eye. We were greeted upon arrival with champagne (nice :) ) Also, I live in New York... city of diverse people and food choices. I've probably had almost every cuisine possible. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed in the food at the resort with the exception of the tepanyaki (delicious!) Nothing was bad but each restaurant had few choices and I did not leave amazed. All of the desserts looked exactly the same and were not appetizing at all! I'm a tough critic though so try it for yourself. If you're not used to the food, you may enjoy it. I think it lacks some authenticity because of tourists. I'm sure others loved it. Overall stars: 3.5 of 5 Pros: friendly staff, clean rooms and resort Cons: draws older couples (con for a 23 year old), food is just okay, not much to see in walking distance (must travel)
