I had a couple of problems with the resort. First, the room was very small. When you opened the door you only had to take one step before you touched the bed. Second, the resort fees and taxes were outrageous. The room was offered at a low price, but when you include the resort fees and taxes the price increases significantly. The staff were very friendly and the shuttle to and from your room was much appreciated, especially after a day of wine tasting.

I was a little disappointed with the Meritage Resort and Spa. I've stayed at many resorts and The Meritage tries to be high end but falls short. I liked the location and the customer service. They have wine tasting in the lobby and in their tasting room, which is a bonus. I didn't like the food. We dined at the restaurant and had room service and both were mediocre. We didn't go to the concierge desk, however I overheard them try to pitch a presentation of their timeshares to another couple (I thought that was a bit tacky). They upgraded us to a room overlooking the pool. I turns out in the evening people sit next to the firepit by the pool or congregate on the terrace and can be loud after several bottles of wine. I would choose a room facing out but the views are of a parking lot or business part. FYI they charge a $15 resort fee. Overall it was a nice experience but they are trying to be something they are not, which is a fine resort. The rooms reminded me of a business hotel with a little granite and a decorative pillow. The food was nothing special. I would stay again if the price is right but I'm not compelled to return.

We didn't want to leave! I have a philosophy that if I am going to stay somewhere on vacation I would like accommodations that are at least as good as home or better. I thought the Vino Bello resort took the cake! It really offered something for everyone and was a family friendly resort. Finding something to please everyone in a family of 6 with children ranging in age from 18 months to 14 can be a challenge but the Vino Bello resort did it! The children couldn't even decide if they wanted to go to Discovery Kingdom or spend the day at the resort - that's how much they loved it. The only issues we had with the property is it took a little longer than expected to get things you requested possibly because it is such a big property or possibly because it may not be staffed as well as it should for the size of property it is. It also could be off season for them. We were very disappointed with the restaurant service. The food was amazing, the kitchen did a tremendous job but the lack of service was enough to keep us from going back and the fact that they served old mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup was even worse. The attention to detail in the hotel was exquisite, how they missed the service in the restaurant and details like food that sat to long, waiting to long for someone to check on what you need, service of condiments that won't make you sick, poor music selection for the atmosphere and a hostess inappropriately dressed is beyond me....
