It's a small hotel at the far end of Waikiki. It's not beachfront property, either, so if you're looking for a hotel on the beach, this isn't it. But it does have great views of the ocean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it didn't have the craziness and bustle of a big resort (i.e., no small kids running around). So if you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is a great hotel. The minuses were that the decor could've been updated, it's a bit of a trek to the main part of Waikiki (If you're walking), and the bar/food service by the pool wasn't always open when it was supposed to be. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a nice, quiet hotel, but not if you're looking for a resort experience.

Very clean & quiet, but it does not compare to the exquisite Marriott resort on Kauai. Parking is very expensive as are all the on-site restaurants. Shops on the 1st floor weren't interesting to us-- they looked more like high-end boutiques. Bathroom is small -- not what I'd expect for a 4-star "resort". On the plus side, the beach is just across the street. We found service to be just fine - everyone was polite, prompt, and friendly.

I chose the JW Marriot Ihilani Resort on recommendation from a close friend and she was right on the mark. The resort is beautiful and serene. Our room had a gorgeous ocean view and we could see the stingray and tropical fish ponds looking directly down from our lanai. All resort staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The lagoon at the resort had amazing snorkeling so if you go make sure to make use of the free snorkel equipment provided by the resort. We swam with turtles in the lagoon daily and saw every type of fish imaginable (even more than we saw in Hanauma Bay and WAY less crowded). I recommend getting a rental car because the resort is just far enough away that you will have way better access to the rest of the island with a car. You will have to pay a daily parking fee at the resort so keep that in mind. There are grocery stores and restaurants 5 minutes away or you can drive to Honolulu in under 30 min (depending on traffic). The rooms are very comfy, the only thing is, if you want a mini-fridge, in room coffee maker, robes or any amenities like that you do have to have them sent up. The resort no longer provides them automatically in your room although they are still free of charge.

Check in took a very long time for the Kalia tower and we were directed to 3 different towers before we could check in, The room was smaller then we had thought it would be and the bed is a true double and was hard for my husband and I to fit well- kids were ok in the other one, we had to ASK for enough towels and glasses for everyone everyday (total of 4) otherwise you get 3, the resort food was TERRIBLE and 3x more expensive than other restaurants off the resort. We had an appetizer, salads, and a delicious steak dinner with 3 mai tai, and dessert at a local steakhouse for $113.00. We paid $90.00 for 4 ham and cheese omlettes and coffee and oj on the resort!!!! No Kidding! The taxi company that the resort has on site ripped us off and then pretended not to understand English. The resort is very beautiful and provide seclusion from the other beaches but ask for directions to Lewers St. (about 6 blocks away) to eat ie Dennys, Yardhouse Steakhouse ect..) Also the IHOP across the street was good and resonable but stay away from the 24hr cafe-it made us all sick and is dirty. We would probably pick a different resort next time. Although we will definitely book with Expedia next time- we signed up for airport transfers and they were awesome and everything else was booked as we had planned as well! Thanks Expedia:)

Was a decent stay overall. They have a great spa service in the resort however it can get quite expensive. A standard 50min massage will cost you $150.00. if you are goin with a travel card, be sure to have plenty of money in the account as they hold a large amount as a security deposit. They didn't tell us this and we ran out of US dollars. The restaurant is great and the service is perfect with free American style coffee but again it can be quite expensive. Four small blueberry pancakes can cost $30 at breakfast or a main for dinner can cost about $40. If you have an issue, it's hard to speak to a manager and then they don't get back to you. Location is spectacular. Can't get any better. We were on our honeymoon here. We wouldn't recommend it to newly weds but if you have the money and just want a holiday this is a good place to stay.

I'm used to staying at pricey hotels so Halekulani's room prices were not an issue. However, you're paying a lot of money for good service alone. The rooms are outdated. The balconies all face each other so there's no privacy. Buffet breakfast for 2 is $62 and when I asked the next day if we were restricted to buffet we were told yes. Had to use the "fancier" restaurant to get a normal breakfast and since we were in our pool attire, there went that. Room service was excellent although most of the meals were not. 99% of the staff was extremely courteous and went out of their way to make sure we had a nice stay. The other 1% was just a bad experience that was resolved when we reported it. And if you are looking for the island experience do not stay there. Beach is about 200 sq feet. Plus Honolulu is horrible! NYC on an island is the best way to describe it. Stay at a resort out of town or better yet on another island. Next vacation I'm going back to the Buccaneer in St. Croix which is also pricey but very worth the money!

My family and I just returned after at 7 night stay at the resort and I am still missing the amazing experience. I have traveled extensively and this resort is by far, one of the best places I have stayed. This resort is an ideal location whether you are single or have a family. I am looking forward to another visit in the near future.

Our overall experience at Turtle Bay was amazing! We would not have had to leave the resort if we didn't want to see some of the other amazing places. The service and friendliness of the staff was outstanding! The grounds and resort lobby were immaculate. The lobby is undergoing renovation so there were some understandable noises, etc. Our only complaint would be the resort rooms and carpets in the room corridors. The rooms do need updated and were nothing fancy. The rooms in general were clean but upon closer inspection, the walls were dirty and in desparate need of new paint. The carpets in the hallways were dirty. I did speak to the front desk and they explained the resort would be renovating all the rooms after the lobby renovation. With that said, everything else about the resort make up for the rooms. The views are breathtaking. The resort food was expensive but we were able to work around that by sharing meals which were more than plenty for 2 of us and by finding some places to eat in the small towns not far from the resort. We just loved Ted's Bakery for breakfast! We would recommend being fully aware of how the spa charges for services as we did not completely understand until it was time to pay. They charge the service price, then 18% of which the service provider only gets 15% of the 18%, so if you take the time to figure it out, you feel obligated to pay an additional amount to give the provider what they should be worth. Expensive!

It is very nice hotel. We had a problem with the air conditioner. But it was fixed.I was not impressed by all the charges for use of chairs for the beach and pool area. Most hotels that I have stayed at do not charge their guest to use beach chairs. Food is very expensive on the resort. I recommend that you eat off the resort. It will be by far cheaper and will be a lot better quality. The service was excellent. Excellent place for children.

i decided to visit Hawaii by myself as a stop over to another u.s destination. I didnt want to pay the huge costs associated with waikiki beach front hotels/resorts, but found this hotel to be 1 block walking distance from the main strip of shops and restaurants as well as the beach. which was excellent value for money. bus stop right out the front meant easy access to other shopping centres and tourist type activities. all in all a good experience. only annoying thing was the pool doesn't get any sun during the day. thats it. oh and the restaurant attached to the hotel was terrible. dont even bother with it.

This vacation was the first for my family. We chose Ko Olina Beach Villa Resort because of the price and facility, even though we never visited it before. So, there was apprehension going into this blindly. We trusted what others had said about the facility and area. After the vacation, we were very satisfied with the accomidations and location. The resort is very close to a clean and well maintained man-made lagoon. Eventually the first Disney Hawaii resort will open and this "privacy" may become less private really fast. Until that happens, you should have plenty of sand space and relaxation time on the beach. If you are mixing a golf vacation with your trip, I would suggest not going to the golf course adjacent to the resort...it's too expensive. My wife and I are intermediate to advanced golfers and we both concluded it was not worth the price. Do your research; you'll find many above par courses less than a 15 minute drive from the resort. There is a Costco, Target and Safeway within a 5 minute drive from the resort and plenty of restaurants. This resort does not have a restaurant or food service so, if you want to walk, you will need to visit the Marriott Resort next door. If you have a car, we found good to great restaurants within a 5 minute drive. Our room was more of a condo so, we prepared 50% of our meals in the condo. One thing to note is room service is not 24hrs. Not a big deal but we ran into a problem with one of the toilets and we had to wait until morning.

Great vaca! All you need is there at the resort...except for food. The restaurants there are fantastic, but be prepared to pay. There is a to go place, One Paddle, Two Paddle, which for a resort offers good food for fair price. The car rental is a bit pricey, but again, all you need is there at the resort. Aunty's (daycare) is very impressive. No wonder kids don't want to leave. This resort is ideal for toddlers and up. Extremely friendly staff. Keep the lei on and you'll get the extra attn. Housecleaning was a lil short on the service. Had to call them for service.Still 5 stars!
