The resort is nice considering it is an older resort. We got a Deluxe Honeymoon Suite and it was definitly worth the extra money. The only complaints we had were that the AC didnt work at all for the first 6 days we were there, but they did work diligently to fix it before coming to the conclusion that the whole unit needed to be replaced. But, once we had AC it was awesome! The water sucks! If there is water pressure there is no hot water; if there is hot water, there is no water pressure. But, from talking to people at other resorts, that just seems to be normal for the area. Also, they dont have food 24/7. If you are hungry from 10am-noon, 4:30-7:00, or 9:30pm till breakfast, then you are just out of luck, so take snacks. And if you are looking for a beach to play on or want to swim in the ocean, then this isnt the resort for you. But, other than those things it was nice. The staff was AWESOME! They did everything they could to make our stay a great one.

Although this resort is about 2 hours from the airport, it is worth the trip. Definately take Expedia's round trip service, otherwise you will be searching for a taxi to drive you 2 hours, and you will pay a fortune. The resort is beautiful. It has the largest beach of any resort, and it's pool stretches along the beach. The hot tubs were great, they had musical entertainment, pool tables, ping pong tables, a casino, and food available till 2 in the morning. They have bars dispersed throughout the resort, so if you are a drinker, you won't have to walk (or stagger) far. They have 3 restaurants. Their Chinese restaurant was great, their Italian restaurant was ok, and their American restaurant we couldn't get into. Make sure to make reservations quick, because they get booked up fast. Otherwise, their buffets were great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will always leave full. Also, the resort is walking distance to town, and a few miles from Dunns River Falls, so it is perfectly located. You can book trips from the resort, so there will be plenty to do. Climb the falls and go Horseback riding. It was great. Overall, a great place, and definately worth the trip. Just make sure not to go during the rainy season!

We visited Couples Tower Isle in April for our 25th anniversary. We were very pleased with the resort. When you arrive at the Montego Bay airport Couples has a lounge where you can enjoy a cold Red Stripe while waiting on the bus to take you to the resort. The trip to the resort takes about an hour and forty five minutes. We stopped halfway to reload on Red Stripe. Its not a bad ride, the bus driver was entertaining and pointed out points of interest along the way. Check in at the resort was quick and efficient. We were changed and on the beach in just a few minutes. We are in our mid 40's and I think most of the people at the resort are in that same age group although there are plenty of people there from 20's to 60+. There is evening entertainment every night, but this is not really a party resort. The piano bar is a lot of fun. Things seem to wind down by midnight. The pools and beach area are very nice. We never had a problem finding lounge chairs. There is plenty of places to find sun or shade whichever you prefer. Be sure to visit the island, there is a small pool with a swim up bar and plenty of lounge chairs. We didn't know what to expect but thought we would give it a try and ended up going back to the island most every day. There are plenty of daily activities. You can do as much or as little as you want. The food at resort is very good. You can always find something good at the buffet. The specialty restaurants are very good. Breakfast is awesome.

Its a great resort for the money. Food, service, drinks, grounds all wonderful. The only 2 things i didnt like about it they really cant change. 1. the rooms do not have balconies. most of the resorts modeled like superfun have balconies, the rooms open up with big windows but its not the same. 2. the beach is ok however the water is only knee deep at most places within the roped off area. if you go past the ropes to find water a bit more "swimable" the lifeguards yell at you. there is a local beach next door which i would describe as majestic, i recomend you check it out. again both of these knocks are beyond their control. i cant say enough about the staff, they were wonderful. The resort is fun, waterslide, piano bar, disco etc. It was a great experience especially for the what we paid.

We spent 4 nights at Couples Sans Souci in August and I can not tell you how incredible we thought the resort was. It was small enough to be very romantic and peaceful. I think the best thing that the resort has in its favor is the amazing staff. I don't think we came in contact with a single person that worked there that did not greet us with a friendly smile and "hello". My husband says it is the most laid back place he has ever been to! The grounds were amazing. We loved exploring all the nooks and crannies and finding all the hidden gems such as the waterfalls, hot tubs, hammocks, and parrots. We took the Dunn's River Fall excursion that was included in the resorts all-inclusive package and had a great time. I highly recommend it for first time visitors. We have stayed at other all-inclusive resorts and I must say that the food at Sans Souci was far better than any other all-inclusive resorts we have ever stayed in. Wednesday night is lobster night and I think they were the largest lobster tails we have ever eaten. My husband asks that I let you know that the Lamb chops are superb! Friday night is the Gala night where they set up tables on the grounds and have a wonderful buffet and terrific show for all the guest. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this resort and hope to make it back really soon! This was our first time to Jamaica and we did not really know what to expect but I can say that it will not be our last visit to Jamaica or to Couples San Souci!

I would like begin by expressing how friendly ALL of the resort staff were. I went to this resort alone just to get away for a few days to relax and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was greeted at the airport by a staff member who chauffered me an hour and 15 minutes to the resort. After I arrived, check-in was speedy and the bellman carried my luggage to my room. When I walked in I was overwhelmed by the smell of Raid (bug spray) so I thought I was going to see roached and ants. Contrary to my belief, I saw no roaches or ants in my room but I did see them (along with flies) at the outside grill cafe. The only complaint with my room would be that there were giant mosquitos flying everywhere. I had to combat them during my entire stay. I had a beautiful view from my balony and it was very quiet. At the outside grill cafe, there were flies everywhere EVEN on the FOOD. The buffet line wasn't as "fly infested" and the food was quite tasty. The beach was absolutely breathtaking and as a scuba diver I really enjoyed the unlimited scuba diving (night dive too). My complaint about the beach would be the human vultures that strolled the beach trying to hustle you their merchandise. They would wait in the water for guest to enter then pull out their seashells with hopes of a sell. I even saw them trying to get convince other guest to get them drinks from the bar. My overall experience at this resort was a pleasant one. I'd return and definitely recommend.

We read a number of reviews about FDR before our trip in January 2011, and so were not surprised when we had an excellent experience. First, our flight to Jamaica was cancelled and the airline couldn't get us there until two days later. FDR simply altered our reservation by two days on both ends, without charge. The resort is a ways from Montego Bay airport, so plan on an additional 90 minutes to two hours in travel time. The major attraction of FDR is the vacation nanny program, which assigns a nanny to each family for the duration of your stay. We paid an additional $20 per day for a second nanny, because we have a two-year-old and a five-month-old, who are on very different schedules and activity levels. The nannies were great. They work from 9:00 to 4:40, with an hour off for lunch. Virtually every family has them work extra hours into the evening, so the parents can go to dinner alone. Extra time is $6 per hour, paid to the nanny in cash and that same evening. The nannies don't get much in salary from the resort, so they rely on tips to supplement their income. Other guests and reviews peg the going tip rate at about $20 per day per nanny. So bring a fair amount of cash with you. The food is only okay, but not bad. Everyone at the resort is extremely friendly and works very hard to make your stay enjoyable. The resort's "beach" is really just for kids; resort guests have access to a neighboring beach, which requires a walk around a fence and over some rocks to get to.

My wife and I could not of picked a better resort for our first trip to Jamaica. We felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves, and the resort activities were set up similar to a cruise ship, where they wanted people to meet. The first night we met a couple at hibachi and were inseperable the rest of the week. I would say the resort is a smaller all inclusive resort. The RIU resort is right next door and it is a huge complex if you are looking for more people and more of a night life. The staff and the amenities at the Jewel were wonderful. Shawna and Doran were great members of the entertainment staff. Sheldon in the flash picture studio (photographers take pictures throughout events of your stay which was great), is a great photographer and great guy. Everyday there is a pick up game of beach volleyball which was great for me, since my wife like to lay at the beach and read and I am more active. Food was excellent. Strongly recommend the resort.

We didnt know where we were staying until a week before we left. We discovered we were being booked at the SANS SOUCI in Ocho Rios. I personally had never heard of the place before and was a bit scared at first at what we were in for. First, it was a 2 hour+ bus ride from the airport to there. I wasnt too crazy about that, (but I later ended up saying it's well worth the bus ride!) Reception at the resort was nice & friendly. We were welcomed with champagne and cold face towels. A staff member sat down with us in the lobby & personally went over everything with us at check in. You'll immediately notice this isnt like any "resort" you've been to before. The lobby and surrounding areas have a very "quaint" feel about it. Its almost like being on a privately owned property! After we did an initial walk about the resort, I kept telling my wife, it's as if they never cut down a tree or plant and just inserted a resort into the banks of the island! It was just amazing! The rooms were beautiful and spacious! A huge LCD TV mounted on the wall! Things were a little dated, but otherwise, excellent! It did add to the intimate feel of the resort. We went in Feb 2009. The resort was only maybe 80% full. No waiting at resturants. Minimal lines at buffets, no children!......we loved it!

We went for a short stay April 24-28, 2011. First of all the hotel is a 90 minute drive from the airport, and that is not including the stops at all the other drop off locations/resorts along the way. If you have been to Jamaica before you'll not be surprised to learn that the drive to this hotel is trashy. Yet, it is a nice proximity to the Dunns River Falls. We took the boat out there and had a very nice time. The food was good- not a lot of options but good variety. The gardens are pretty and nice to walk through and sit on the hammocks spread throughout. The beach isn't that great. It has rather small swimming areas with not a lot to look at (if you enjoy snorkeling- which we do!). They do offer scuba diving, which I loved, but they have to pick you up and take you to another resort to do it. We did enjoy the free snorkeling trip. They take you out on a small boat and let you swim around a reef for about 30 minutes, which was fine. Limited to 10 people- only once a day at 1pm and you better sign up early- 7:30am, because it fills up! Mostly, if you are looking for a quiet trip to a beach resort, I would NOT recommend this place. Go to the far beaches to hear the music less. The "entertainment" (read loud bass/ club music) goes until around 11:30pm/ midnight, and you cannot escape it. The huts aren't insulated of course, so you can hear the music all night and anyone walking by and talking. I liked that it was a small resort, clean and well kept, but it was too noisy.

If you're looking for an out of the way place that's not crawling with drunken tourists, this is a fantastic hotel--we basically felt we were the only guests most of the time. It's a 25-minute cab ride to Dunn's River falls and Ocho Rios (NOT the 1 mile distance in the hotel description), which can get expensive, but feeling far away from the bustle and madness of resort life was worth it to us. There's a small grocery right down the street and cooking in will save you a LOT of money, so the kitchen in the room came in really handy. There's also a really cool bar/jerk centre next to the grocery, which is great fun. The beers are cheap, the music is fantastic, the locals are friendly and the domino games are a blast. The "private beach" is small and rocky, but there are still some beach cool critters to see plus it's secluded and you can catch some excellent sunrises and view countless stars. The bed was a little hard and the water pressure in the shower was non-existant, so if you're looking for cushy, this isn't it, but we still had a fabulous time and would happily recommend it to anyone who's willing to put up with some minor problems to enjoy the peace and quiet.

The Riu Ocho Rios is a very large resort. The junior suites were nice and spacious but the beds and pillows are not very comfortable. They only restock our mini bar every other day so make sure you have plenty of water. If you need anything for your room they are slow with the service, they will eventually get there. All of the restaurans were accommodating. It was nice to have a few more choices of restaurants because we had a suite. The Sir Richard (gourmet) restaurant was very good and so was Mamme Bay (steakhouse). There are plenty of places for lunch but the Jerk Hut was by far the BEST. Be sure if you are going to eat at some of the specilaty restaurants to make reservations as soon as you get to the resort. We went to Dolphin Cove which was alot of fun, tubing down the river and climbed the Dunn River Falls. Be sure to have some time to explore the grounds and the great market they have. Overall we were constantly entertained at Riu and everyone was very pleasant. It is a family resort so there are tons of kids, if you want more peace and quiet this is not the place to go. We would recommend this resort to others, we had a blast and relaxed!

This resort was amazing. We had a lot of fun. No complaints. Beach was nice...the pools were nicer. The bartenders are all great, sometimes there are lines, but why complain. Restaurants were all amazing. Surprisingly the buffet was extremely good as well. Was nice they mixed it up too some nights to "Mexican" night and what not. Gold member was worth every penny. We had an amazing room/view. Also they book the dinners for you ahead of time so no worries with that aspect. Free internmet was nice to check my email a few times as well. For the people that complain about this resort, shame on you. A vacation is as good as you make it. No this is not like 5 star hotels in North America. Staff is a little slow sometimes...who cares, Its Jamaica. Live it up. If you don't want to walk 5 mins from one place to the other go to a smaller resort. This place is huge, which is great if you want to have a fun time and meet people. The night life shows are weak, but what do you expect. The disco can be good and the sports bar has any game you want to see. The burger joint is open from 11pm to 7am if you get hungry. It's great...say hi to Lloyd for me. Go to this resort, you won't be sorry. The rest from the water look like crap except sandals.
