We were quite happy with our stay here. We stayed for one week at the end of March and could not have been happpier. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the staff was quite friendly and gracious, and the food excellent. It is a hilly resort - lotsa ups and downs: hills, stairs, etc. It was in the mid-90s and quite humid the week were there so after a bit the climbing got a little wearisome in the heat - but we did it! Would definitely go back again. We rented a car and took off for Playa del Coco and Tamarindo. It was great to have that freedom and not diffcult to negoatiate the roads. Try the Ginger restaurant just down the road for an off site meal.

This was an absolutely amazing trip. It was our first trip to Costa Rica, but it definitely won't be our last. The hotel property was beautiful and clean. The staff was wonderful, they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Our housekeeper cleaned our room every day, left us extra toiletries, and left flowers on our bed. There were plenty of daily activities to do (I recommend the bike tour to nearby Panama Beach) and there were plenty of places to relax if you just wanted to sit by the pool or beach and do nothing. The drinks were very good- I recommend the Mono Sucio (The Dirty Monkey). The beach was a mixture of very soft black and white sand. The water was warm and clear. It was also fairly calm so we were able to swim and row a kayak easily. There are only a few negatives about the resort. The majority of the food was just OK...it definitely wasn't great. It was plentiful and the presentation was lovely, but the flavor just wasn't all that good. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet was excellent and the ceviche was amazing. Also, there is not much to do at night. This was not a problem for us- we were up with the sun and in bed by 9 every night, but someone looking for nightlife may find this resort a bit boring. Overall, my husband and I loved this resort. We were so sad when we had to leave. We will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed the stay at Sol Papagayo resort at Panama Beach/Costa Rica. Not only was service really nice, but the kitchen staff was very accomodating to us, since we are vegetarians. The location was awesome, in the forest, and to our surprise when we were having breakfast in an open dining room, a troupe of howler monkeys about 20 of them, came by and gave us a show on the trees above us. Incredible. Also as we were taking pictures of the monkeys, we noticed the calm bay and the ocean right there, 30 feet from where we were standing by the pool. Safety also was a great asset to this hotel. Will be back again .
