Superb, in every way a luxury resort. The service was incredible, the accomodations and property fantastic! We stayed in the Oasis Village, overlooking the adult-only pool, but we hung out a fair bit at the other pools, too. Although we caught a great cut room rate through hotels.com, this is a pricey place, with upscale tags on food and drinks, spa treatments, and a daily resort fee. But unless you were looking for a bargain in the first place, you will not be disappointed here. It is located out in Paradise Valley, along resort row and so is a little ways (ten minutes) from downtown Scottsdale attractions and restaurants. But the resort itself has almost everything you need, and it sits at the foot of Camelback mountain, with peaceful views. Even the fitness area, accessible with your hotel stay and resort fee, faces the mountain. About the spa -- blissful and very luxe; even veteran spa-goers will find this place ups the bar a bit. I would not stay here if you are going to be elsewhere for most of your days; it is so much more than just a room to return to at night. But for those looking to forget the outside world and really make use of the property amenities, this is your little slice of heaven!

Check in was pleasant, however when we got to our room, it had been cleaned but there were dirty wet towels on the floor & the garbages were full, and the bedding was ruffled. Suspect someone went in room after they'd checked out, or someone else did. We asked to be moved to a clean room & they moved us. The first room had a beautiful view overlooking a fountain, the room we were moved to was at the back near the laundry, & the new view was of a parking lot, and we often heard the loud beeps of trucks backing up. However we decided to tune it out as best we could, as we didn't plan on being in the room much anyways. Everything else was absolutely wonderful & what we'd hoped. It is a nice resort, kids loved the lazy river, mini golf & pools. We loved the poolside services available & used them regularly. Liked the gift shops, and the restaurants were wonderful. Service was fantastic everywhere we went, and people were friendly. We wanted a place that had everything, and we didn't have to leave the resort if we didn't want to, and this resort totally fit that requirement for us. We had a fridge added to our room, and walked to a grocery store to pick up a few extra snacks & things for the kids & us. My parents came with us, they enjoyed the resort, but I think they would have liked to go on more tours around Phoenix, but found those to be quite pricey. We just enjoyed ourselves at the resort for a whole week.

I travel frequently and have stayed at several Hilton's. The grounds at this resort felt more like an apartment complex than a resort. The rooms, pools, restaurants, spa, etc are spread out (which I consider nice for a resort), but rather than sidewalks, gardens, or typical resort grounds, there are parking lots with cars throughout the entire resort. From the porch in my suite (and most suites in the hotel), my view was of parked cars. At the pools, again, my view was of parked cars. When I walked to breakfast, and to the pool, and the spa, rather than walking on sidewalks past nice gardens, I walked through parking lots full of cars. The room was fairly standard for a Hilton. However, the bathroom was very small, and on par with Hampton Inn's that I have stayed at versus the Hilton brand hotels. The service at the hotel was great and the room and grounds were clean. Also, there were plenty of pools and places to lay in the sun. Further, the view and food at the Different Pointe of View restaurant were excellent. The layout of this resort was not what I expected, however, and when I return to Phoenix, I will stay at a different resort.

The resort itself was just beautiful. The soft tones through the resort along with the building design gave the resort a warm west coast feel. From the start, the service was excellent. From the bellman getting us a shuttle to our room as soon as we arrived at the resort to the friendly staff always there to answer questions, you felt like a movie star. The grounds on the resort were spotless and all of the pools were heated and very clean. Our room was neat and tidy and room service was excellent! (the pizza was great!) The spa was wonderful and I highly recommend getting a massage. From booking us a desert tour to picking us up to go to the mall, the resort staff was always there to help! Great resort, highly recommend, don't let this one get away! A+

I would highly recommend you to stay here if you can budget the stay. The rooms: Very clean, and well kept during your stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Extra towels, a forgotten toothbrush, more soap... whatever you may encounter a need for, the Wigwam staff is willing and able to help. The grounds: Excellent. To prove the point, I actually made the effort to take pictures of the pools and grounds in general - they are that nice. The buildings are spaced out nicely, and provide a nice sense of privacy for you. Parking isn't right outside your door, but a stroll through the grounds isn't something I minded at all. They do provide assistance with your luggage via golf carts, so don't worry about lugging your stuff long ways in or out. The pools are very nice. Of course you may expect the pools at any resort to be nice, but the way that theirs are situated, makes them feel more like a pool at home rather than the public pool down the street. Location: The surrounding neighborhood is nice. There is a school just across the street to the south, and a row of restaurants on the west border of the property. (I would recommend them as a place to go, as the food was very good and price was average) Within a 5-10 minute drive you can get to a wide variety of nicer chain restaurants, or local bars. There is even a CVS right down the street just in case you forget to pack something. Overall, I would recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a place to relax. You could easily make this resort your destination and not leave. I wish I had been able to spend more time at the resort. If you are looking for a place to crash for the night and move on the next day, this is not that kind of place. To be honest I wouldn't have sought out a place like this on my own, but as I had business here, I decided to stay for the convenience. This turned out to be a great choice. When I return to Phoenix, I will be sure to stay a little longer, and plan to enjoy the Wigwam in full.

Certainly not a 5 star resort but if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay with a very nice bar (half price appetizers before 6:30)and an easy round of golf try Arizona Golf Resort. You won't be pampered but you won't over pay either. Our bed was very comfortable and the room large with kitchenette for coffee and cereal breakfast. Plenty of stores around for food an gas. We were told the resort is 40 years old but it is very well maintained. The "locals" use the resort for their guests so that says something about the overall value. We would certainly stay again.

I read some reviews prior to booking this resort that the rooms were run down. However, we did not find this the case. We had a two-bedroom villa and everything was in top shape. It actually looked as if nobody had used the room before. The pictures on websites do not do the two-bedroom villas justice. Our villa was very large. It had a large kitchen, laundry area, 2 large bathrooms, a large combined living/dining area, a fireplace Bose surround stero, and a patio with a table/chairs and umbrella. We also had a King room in the main building, and it was also very well maintained. This was a family vacation and it was a great place to hang out together. There are many places to dine within walking distance of the resort. There is a gourmet market across the street that is just amazing! We definitely recommend the Hilton Scottsdale Resort; although I would classify it as more of a very nice hotel rather than a resort. We look forward to our next family gathering at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort.

We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Biltmore, and it truly is a very classy and historically interesting resort. We were charged twice for the resort fee, which is $28 per day. The resort fee was included in our total cost at the time of booking through Expedia, but when we checked in, they assessed the $28 fee again. When I told the front desk attendant that I'd already paid it through Expedia, she said that it was not paid in advance and that it must have been Expedia's fees. However, I called Expedia when I returned home and they assured me it was the resort fee that I had paid, and they helped me get it taken care of. Also, we had to call the front desk because they charged our poolside drinks to my credit card, rather than using the $50 resort credit we'd already paid for at the time of booking. Be prepared to spend an extra $12 per day for parking ($25 if by valet) and be aware that all food and drinks at the resort are overpriced. But aside from these issues, our stay was wonderful and we'd definitely do it again.

We have stayed at numerous 4-5 star resorts in Scottsdale/Phoenix area and the Phoenician never disappoints. Their pools are fabulous as they offer "noodles" to relax on. The resort grounds are impeccably manicured and the views are great. The resort also backs up to Camelback Mtn. where you can hike and they have a dessert garden you can walk through. If you are a spa connoisseur, the spa area is much to be desired. It's a bit smaller than some of the other spas in the area and the services(I've had massages/body treatments done) are just ok. But, they have a lot of activities they offer on the resort such as: golf, croquet, lawn bowling, tennis, basketball just to name a few. They also have a cute cafe on site that offers coffee, breakfast/lunch and sweet treats. Great for folks who have a sweet tooth like myself! The food at the resort is good albeit expensive. However, the resort is nearby to many great restaurants in the area. The resort is also not far from other attractions such as the Phoenix Zoo or Desert Botanical Garden (about 15 minutes drive). We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Room which is larger than the standard rooms and offers a larger veranda (at least the one we stayed in did). All in all, great stay and will definitely be back again!!

This resort is for you if you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with lots of natural wildlife and vegitation. I would rate this a four star resort. This resort is on the outskirts of Phoenix so if you want to do anything downtown, that 45min drive away. This resort is 25 years old so the resort and the area are mature not old like so reviews claim. The only complain I can agree with from other reviews is the main dining area is not a fine dining experience as the resort claims. Overall an excellent resort with great golfing and an excellent spa. Would definitely go back.

Although we were on the "quiet floor" (4th floor), the noise was frustrating-(The noise of the elevator, conversations from the ground level, and loud late night noise from an outdoor party tent on the opposite side of the resort). It was not conducive to an early night or sleeping in. The bathroom had only has one sink, and the closet door would not stay on the track. Their was an unexpected additional resort fee to cover in-room coffee and bottled water. The surrounding shops were quaint, but don't walk to far from hotel-the atmosphere quickly changes. This was not what I expected from a resort hotel.

This is a great low key resort near Old Town Scottsdale. Very convenient location. I have stayed here many times on my visits to AZ. This trip it was too cold to take advantage of the pool area but on past visits it's great to get a cabana. The gym is perfect, good equipment. The staff throughout the resort was extremely friendly and made you feel welcome. I had my Yorkie with me and the hotel is pet friendly. That made an even bigger difference.

I booked a night to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary, which are 2 days apart. We are relatively local, so a night at a nice Scottsdale resort was just a mini-escape. I was expecting a well appointed room with all of the comforts we wouldn't have at home. Instead, we found the place to be old and out-dated. TVs were the old boxy kind and one of the remotes didn't work. In the bedroom the TV is off in the corner and difficult to see from the bed. The bathtub is a standard bath but old and rusty - we have a nice big garden tub at home. There used to be a private hot tub on a private back patio at the resort, but the tub was empty and the door dead-bolted because of some new law. The grounds were nice, but eerily empty - nobody in the pool, so we didn't know if we could use the discounts and free appetizer that were supposed to come with the resort fee. Which reminds me, they will charge $15 per night plus tax on top of what you already paid on this website as a resort fee. The internet access is free, but wired. The room smelled faintly of pesticide. I will say that the bed sagged in the middle, but there was a nice plush pillowy mattress topper that made it pretty comfortable. And the staff was very friendly, if a bit scarce. There is a Trader Joe's right next to the resort grounds, so you can get a bottle of wine and make the most of the situation. Overall, I wanted a little more posh for my money, which I would have gotten if I had booked the other hotel I had considered. The reason I chose this one is because it was $20 cheaper, but that was eaten up in resort fees anyway AND we didn't get a free breakfast.

I often travel to Scottsdale but this was my first visit to the Princess. It's a true resort, fairly self-contained, and in better repair than a more famous "country club" resort over on East Camelback. The staff is friendly, and the accomodations as nice as or nicer than any other Scottsdale resort. It's expensive...but DUH it's a resort and charges resort prices. My only complaints were that housekeeping was slow in making up my room one day and that the "business center" was an abysmally small, under-airconditioned tomb. Aside from those faux pas, whether it was breakfast in the LV Bistro (with Tim the waiter, who was one of the nicest resort employees I've met in my travels) or dinner at The Grill at the TPC course next door (with complimentary transportation to and from the restaurant), my experience was excellent. If you're willing to bear the costs of a resort, you'll like the Princess alot.

The Papago Inn was a genuinely nice surprise. I surprised my husband with a weekend "home" for his 40th. The goal here was to be close to our old watering hole (Papago Brewery) and our old neighborhood. I figured - out of convenience - great! we can walk to and from the places where our friends will be and not have to worry about driving. Once we checked in and checked the place out, we were amused and very happy with the little sleeper resort that we had always passed in the past without even knowing what was inside. This place was swank in it's time - we speculated that at the time the resort was built, you could probably darn near see clear to the Papago Buttes. The ghost of swankness still lingers, a gen x-er's delight, this place is just fine. The room could probably go a bit more boutique with minimal changes, but the bed was comfy, room well kept and the staff was very busy, but had plenty of time to take care of our needs. The diner is great at breakfast - I do not think it serves lunch as the advertisement lists. We never made it to the lounge, but the husband peeked through the gate on the door at 8:00 am and reported that they had assured all of it's early 70's glory had remained in tact. Beautiful! I hope the Papago Inn stays just as it is, not pretending to be the modern resorts of Scottsdale and providing exactly what is needed for a solidly good stay.

The Buttes is an older but well maintained resort in Tempe. Easy access to shopping, resturants, and entertainment venues. Right next to Diablo stadium where Angels have spring training. Stayed a week without any problems. Room was ready and very clean. The housekeeping staff was very efficient and professional. Did not eat at resort resturants this trip but have dined before at Top of The Rock when I lived in Az. It has very good cuisine and an incredible view from the hill top location. My only complaint is the absurd practice of charging $10.00 per day parking fee for your car. Come on Marriott you gotta be kidding. The price you get and you want to gig guests for parking their car! It is not even valet or even covered . If you can score a good unpublished rate this is still a great value resort.

This is the 15th time I've been to Scottsdale, and have stayed at many, many resorts. This is by far, the best. The service is superb. Jordan greeted us, showed us to our casita, and was very interesting to talk to. Jose did poolside service and couldn't have been more attentive and wonderful to talk to. The front desk check in was quick, and accomodating. All the perks of a 5 star resort-trust me. You feel pampered every minute you are there. Of course, just as 95% of the resorts in Arizona, there is a nightly resort fee, I'm used to it. As long as one knows, just accept it. This place is worth it! The only thing I noticed that other resorts have held back on is, at the Royal Palms, the gardeners and the leaf blowers started at about 7:30am. --a little too early to wake patrons. Other resorts I"ve noticed started no earlier than 9am. The grounds are superb.

We stayed during the summer and got an extremely good rate, so thought we'd try it out, having stayed in other Scottsdale resorts before but not here. The hotel is in a great location. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, but this hotel is older, and shows signs of wear. Trim on doors is scuffed and worn, decor in rooms is dark and not up to date, no quality in products or sense of style was used when decorating these rooms. We generally always stay in a four star resort when traveling out of town to Tucson, Palm Springs, San Diego, or Phoenix, and this is hotel should by no means be listed in that category, a three star is really what you're looking at. It is a good price for a three star hotel and the staff including the great guys at the Valet parking makes it a very nice stay. So if you want a clean hotel room with nice people in a great location, this is a great place, if you are expecting a resort experience, with higher end expectations, don't stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Carefree resort and Villas from 9/15-9/22. The resort itself is north of Scottsdale, and a fair bit of a drive from Phoenix. Not too much trouble, though, and very easy to get to. We checked in fairly early, no hassle, and were asked whether we wanted a pool view or a mountain view. We figured the mountain view might be nice. It was a good choice. The resort looked absolutely fantastic. Tons of Cactus and desert flora everywhere. We didn't get near enough time during the week to tour the grounds, although if we went back there we would (it's a 54 acre property). We stayed in the main building, which had close parking, a gift shop, an internet lounge, a bar, a pool, and a restaurant. Pretty much all you need. Being that the resort is north of Phoenix, it makes for a good jumping off point for trips to Sedona and the Grand Canyon, as well as back into Phoenix. The staff there were helpful, towels were supplied plentifully at the pool, there were about 6 umbrellas by the pool to protect from the sun. Cleaning staff were quick, and we always had new towels. Free Wireless internet throughout the resort was a nice touch. Only negative was the all the resort rooms were 2 queens instead of 1 king. The resort was quite quiet at this time of year. We were not charged the resort fee (don't know if it was included in the expedia package). We would definitely return.

This resort was absolutely gorgeous with stellar facilities. The location is outside of Phoenix, on a secluded site nestled among the mountains. The building was aesthetically beautiful, with a grand staircase in the lobby leading to four outside pools and several hot tubs. The outdoor furniture is very comfortable and posh, with ample lounge chairs and umbrellas. There are several restaurants from which to choose. I ate at two, both were delicious. The poolside fire pit is a nice touch. I spent a day in the spa, and those amenities were just as grand. (Caveat to following comments- the spa staff was excellent, and I had one of the best messages of my life). Unfortunately the quality of the staff was the antithesis of that of the physical resort. When I called, prior to arriving, to inquire about a taxi or shuttle, and the resort's proximity to Phoenix attractions, I was told to "Google it". Honestly! When I told her that this response shocked me, she replied that "we are actually not allowed to give out that information". When I asked to speak with the manger, my line became disconnected. When I called back and asked to speak to the manager, she indicated that there was no such policy about limiting that information, and was more helpful. So I was blatantly lied to... My room was not ready when I arrived, and I was told they would call me when it became ready, and my suitcase would be delivered. Four hours later, I checked back in to find that the room "Of course is ready". When I got to the room- guess what- no suitcase. The night before my departure I called the front desk to request email of my receipt for a speedy departure the next morning (I gave my credit card check in at arrival). The $5 a day rebate (green initiative for declining cleaning & linen/towel service) was not applied to my bill and the staff member did know how to apply it, or in her words "did not think that was possible". When I asked to speak to her manager, she said there was none, that there was absolutely no one else on duty but her. Funny thing, when I immediately called back (after being on hold for several minutes) another, more capable staff answered my call. Second bold-face lie. Wow!

If you are looking for relaxation by the pool, this is not the resort to go to. The weekend we went (part of spring break unfortunately) was kids central at this resort. We tried going to the spa pool but the pool at the spa had no available chairs and also was shaded by trees. On a positive note: The food at Tuscany restaurant was excellent! the people at the resort were very friendly. :)

This is by far one of the most beautiful resorts I've ever stay at and when I say "RESORT" I mean this hotel is the true definition of the word. Besides the staff being one of the best in the world, the grounds and hotel facilities were maintained to perfection. If you love golf, tennis, poolside pleasure, dining, and shopping this resort has it all. I went for a romantic getaway and this hotel delivered, but if you have kids this resort can exceed your needs as well. I plan to return to this full service resort as soon as possible. :)

The hotel / resort was very nice. It was not over crowded. The staff was extremely pleasent and friendly. The room was great, they gave me an upgrade to a 1 bedroom, extremely nice of them. It had a full kitchen and dinning room. seperate bedroom. I did not use the spa facilities, because it's just not my thing, however they did look very good, nice, clean. Even though I was early in arriving, I was able to get my room. Again it was very nice of the resort to do so. I will stay again if I am in AZ again

I stayed at the Canyon Villas for business. My villa was very clean and very comfortable. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Only downside was no restaurant for villa location. A shuttle is available to the main resort. There are many restaurants in the surrounding area. I would definitely stay here again...for business and pleasure.
