the best part of turtle beach is the location. you really just can't beat it! the beach is gorgeous ... the longest in tobago, in fact. on one end is the town of plymouth. if you don't have a car, you can easily walk down the beach into plymouth for the mini mart or hot local food. the beach is also the best place for local crafts and tour guides (just make sure that you go with a registered tour guide). some of the best times we had involved hanging out with the locals. they are such lovely people and most other hotels don't allow for as much interaction. the only problem is the hotel itself. it isn't atrocious, but the rooms are in serious need of updating (we seldom even had hot water) and "extras" are very expensive. we went with a room-only option which is better if you want a more local experience. some people come and never step foot off the property. such a mistake! but do make sure you check their website for all of their irritating little policies, like wrist-bands and dining attire. on the plus side, because it's an international resort chain, it is much more secure than some of the local hotels. i don't really know that you need them, but there are security guards at the doors and on the beach. be prepared for a sort of old-fashioned resort mentality here, though, dress code included. all in all, we'd probably stay here again, just because the location is so ideal. next time, though, we'll have a better idea of just what we're signing up for. :)
