Ok, so this wasn’t quite the exquisite resort the description paints. The rooms are pretty small, and the interior looks a bit grungy in some places. The staff was competent, but could be a bit more chipper. That said … We paid a very reasonable rate, comparable to the chain motels in the area. And for that same price we had: - A BEAUTIFUL location, right by the Delaware river, and scenic views of the mountains - A location close enough to the local attractions, but mot just off the highway - A more "classic" experience, reminiscent of those old classic resorts (which is exactly what this is). - A fantastic indoor swimming pool, larger the most I’ve seen in the smaller hotels. So it’s not a classic luxury resort, but it’s not priced as such either. And for that beautiful setting, it beats the hack out of a chain hotel off the highway.

We arrived, you have to pay $1 entrance for the resort (every time you go in-out) but you should ask for a receipt, you can use it as a credit in the bars and restaurants. We booked through hotels.com and we were staying in the Lodge (there is also the Galleria). Mapquesting this will not work, their registered address (which appears to be an office) is about 5 miles away from the actual resort (on the same road, just keep going, through a ghost-town and it will be on your right side at a red light). The resort itself is also quite big but there is a shuttle service if you want to. Everything looks a little outdated and some parts could use a lick of paint although one of the mattresses was a Tempur-Pedic, the other one was not. Service was great and responsive. Internet is only in the lobbies and apparently uses a single satellite line which makes it respond slowly or not at all. The restaurants and bars are a little pricey but very good. They have all types of activities throughout the day for kids and adults including horseback riding (outside the resort). Breakfast, lunch and dinner have to be paid for. Pool, sauna and hot tubs were usually empty in the Lodge, the Galleria is more busy. The beach and cordoned-off part of the lake looked a bit grimy with trash and boats in a small area but the rest of the lake was looking good.

I booked this resort as a birthday present for my girlfriend. We usually make fun of people who write reviews, but I thought that it would be worth writing one in this case. In short, I expected a lot more for the price and a Caesar's resort. Things that I liked: breakfast in bed was on time and well done, the in room jacuzzi was nice, the area is secluded, the jacuzzi/spa area is open 24 hours, dinner was good, staff is very helpful for the most part. Things that I didn't like: its like of like a time warp into the 1980s/early 90s with the style - even the bad poster of a couple getting married posted on the main drive is clearly out of the 80s, the outside looks like a motel/interstate rest-stop, the room was musty (but clean), the room appeared cheaply done with cheap aluminum columns and the facade over the bed had a mirror which allowed you to see (in fact you couldn't help but see) the carpet end/glue on the other side because of the mirror, you have to pay to play the video games - annoying because its supposed to be all-inclusive, it was a very nice day but the marina was closed (Oct) so we could not go paddle boating, the lunch area reminded me of the college dining cafeteria. We are really not hard to please, but we will not be returning to this place. We just expected more for the price. I would have been much happier staying at a nicer hotel and ordering room service. That being said, there were definitely people who seemed to enjoy the place.

I read the reviews before going, and I was pleasantly surprised with the room, but the review about don't rush back for the "included" food was right-on. They definite help with the food. It's really a shame to pay that much for an inclusive resort with lousy food. They should open their restaraunt to the public creating competition for that section of the resort, thereby forcing them to address the quality of the food.

Great Wolf Lodge Poconos is a great family resort. The waterpark is lively and fun. There are of course modest waits for the couple big attractions as some others have pointed out. But for the most part you spend much more time sliding and splashing than waiting. There are slides galore as well as a wave pool, a lazy river, and an large soaking water fort. My kids are 4 and 6 and were able to do all but the very biggest attractions. We visited in the summer and also took advantage of the very nice outdoor pool. The Wolf Den room was very exciting for the kids. We found our room to be clean and comfortable. The one downside is the food which is expensive and average. I would recommend that folks bring some snacks and try to eat at least some meals outside of the resort. There are plenty of dining alternatives within a few miles. Overall, it is not a cheap vacation. But there is plenty of fun for everyone. We will be returning soon if only for one night.
