The Sheraton Kauai Resort was the perfect hotel for our first trip to Kauai. We had upgraded to an ocean front room in the "Ocean" tower, and it was so worth it. We saw three rainbows over the Pacific right from our room-it was wonderful! We had our kids with us, and the room was a good size for the four of us. The beds were super comfortable, too. The kids really enjoyed the pool, slide and the ocean a stone's throw away! We recommend the Poipu Beach Park (a 10 minute walk from the hotel)--great for safe swimming for the kids!

We have been to Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Kauai. Our favorite Island is Kauai. We normally stay in Hanalei area, but decided to try Poipu instead. Poipu is the drier side of the island, and weather was great. THe Grand Hyatt Hotel is not laid out as well as Grand Hyatt in Muai- but it still is Beautiful. While they state the Poipu Grand Hyatt is a kid friendly hotel, they have a long way to go to make this a reality. The kids meal choices are expensive and limited......but the real issue is that the kids food showed up late (When the kids were starving).....When it did show up it was burned or cold....The Waitresses take the orders, servers deliver the food....they are not in sync. This happened 3 days in a row. Consequently we ended up having to drive out of the resort for kids lunches, and my wife and I would get served at the pool/lagoon. Every one of the servers/wait people was extremely apologetic about the lack of service....So it may just have been us, but it appeared most people had the same lack of satisfaction. It just seems that Management has not set up a good menu nor system. Fries nor chips at every meal is a good Children's diet? Yum Cha (Restaurant) in the Grand Hyatt is good. They converted the Golf club house to a restaurant.....but oh my god, they play the same UltraMan video every night, and have a TV every 30 feet on every wall.

This hotel / condo resort was exactly as advertised on a great beach with lush landscaping. Our garden view room overlooked the cactus garden and there was so much wildlife for bird watching. The ponds were a science lesson for our daughter because they were brimming with tadpoles in all stages of development with little frogs everywhere. This kept our 5 year old daughter very busy while we watched her from the veranda of the Plantation Gardens restaurant while we finished dinner. The room was comfortable and clean and seemed roomy for a 1 bedroom. Bed was good quality. The drawers from the owners (unit 330) were filled will great books and maps about Kauai Kiahuna Beach was easily accessible with wonderful towel and beach chair service. A great place for kids to learn how to surf because of the easy rolling waves. Poipu Beach is a short drive for great snorkeling and tide-pooling. We were in a complex near the street which would seem loud if you were used to very quiet places. (We're from Los Angeles so it didn't seem bad to us.) It did put us really close to the shopping center across the street which has good restaurants. One could walk to the pool, but we chose to drive and it was 3 minutes and very easy, (There was great towel service there too and the Casa Blanca restaurant next to the pool had great food and drinks) Overall it was a great place for our family vacation in sunny Poipu at very reasonable prices. . We will definitely be back.
