In as few words as possible (because I can't bear long winded reviews), this hotel is definitely a good place to stay if you don't have young (<3 yrs) children. In my opinion, the resort is best suited for young couples and/or mingling singles. While there were other couples with young children staying at the resort, they too found it difficult to find peace from the loud music piping from everywhere. The pools (more than one) are excellent and within an ear shot of the surf from the Atlantic. I do recommend this resort. Check it out.

We were glad to find the Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort (everyone there just calls it the "Ponce Hilton" good to know for the cab drivers) for our recent quick weekend trip to Ponce. The service was amazing, the staff was all more than accomidating especially with our 11 month old baby. As a whole, they were very kid friendly. We had warm milk delivered to our room, a Pack and Play set up and even a babysitter found in under two hours (even though they do suggest 24 hour notice for such a service.) The restaurant was more than accomidating with her. The food, however, was less than desirable (accounting for the 3 I have listed for "quality of service"). It was unimaginative and often felt like it was simply frozen or canned food that was warmed up. It was also quite expensive. The exception was La Cava, the restaurant in the resort. There food was quite good. I focus on the food as the resort is a 10 minute, $20 cab ride to town so the hotel is your only option for food. Otherwise, the pool was wonderful, the casino was fun, the room was clean and comfortable, the playground at the beach was fun, the grounds were well kept and the staff was great.

We went to San Juan to celebrate my husband birthday. The resort is beautiful. The pictures on the web site of the resort are accuarate. Thanks again Carol for excellent room. The food at the hotel is average price for a resort. I enjoyed the fact that there were several options from casual to fine dining. I am not much of a gambler but I did try the casino (didn't Win) . The beach and pool area was very well maintained. The Rainforest trip arranged by the hotel was very relaxing , numerous pictures. The number 21 bus stops in front of the hotel and for $ 0.75 you can go to Old Juan. We took the free Trolley from bus stop in Old San Juan to tour the area.We shopped and had lunch at a restaurant called "Raices" the decor was unique and the food was delicious. We also took the number 21 bus to Old San Juan the next day and paid $1.50 for ferry to Bacaradi Factory. The tour from hotel was pricey.. We also went to the mall the Largest mall in the Caribbean it has all of the stores we have in the malls in California. Down the street from hotel on the left side is 3 reason price restaurants we ate breakfast or dinner at all of them my favorite was Ropa Vieja Grill the food is excellent , There is a Chili's and Subway in the same block, I was surprise to see Frozen Daiquiri and Pina Colada on Subway menu . We have travel all over the world and this was my best trip to the Caribbean no language barrier and no money to exchange. We will return and stay at tne Conrad.

We arrived late evening and initially were put in a room near the ballrooms, bars, elevators, and what seemed to be a service staff hangout; not the ocean view room that had been reserved. Went back to desk, told no ocean view rooms available, given a villa with bay view and complimentary breakfast. Very nice room, quiet, great view. The villa section also had its own pool which was less crowded than the resort pool. The resort was very busy, high season there, but there were several dining options and some nice little shops on the grounds. We went walking around the area during the day, but wouldn't recommend leaving the resort by foot after dark. Good location close to airport, overall would recommend and stay there again.

I had a great time at the resort and would go back, but my stay was too short (2 nights). I would suggest staying no less than 3 nights. While I would not describe the resort as a family resort like a Disney world type place, nor is it a couples resort either. I guess it was a good mix of young couples and families but the lack young couples really reared its head when it came to night life. If you are a couple who consume alcohol definitely go with the all inclusive package. It can pay for itself after one day since the meal prices are far from cheap, and top shelf liquors are used. the only down side is the 5 house wines are all from 1 label and they are very average.

I spent 4 days here and loved every minute of it. The rooms look brand new, with very comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The resort is very lively...we had a live band in the lobby every night, and the dance floor was packed. The pool was perfect for all ages with a great water slide, and swim-up bar. The beach right outside the resort was very nice, with plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas for everyone. We walked the beach in both directions, and I can't say the surrounding area is anything to brag about...it's a mix of construction, abandoned buildings with graffiti, with a few nice resorts mixed in. So if you're going out to the beach at the resort, I'd say stay put where you are. We didn't have a chance to explore other areas of Puerto Rico, so I can't say much about that. We ate at Ajili Mojili (or something like that) which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and really enjoyed it...it's a bit pricey, but a nice date-spot. The hotel is only about a 15 minute cab ride from the airport and the cab only costs about $16, so it's not worth arranging a shuttle service. There's plenty of cabs. I would definitely recommend this resort, and would go back again!

Rio Mar resort/hotel was nice for the money we spent on the room, we had a king bed resort view room. The room actually faced the mountains and rainforest which in my opinion was better than a beach view. Rio Mar is in close proximity (~20 min) to the rain forest which is a must see. It is also a short drive (~10 min) from the Kioskos which is a collection of resturants and shops with some really good local food. Make sure to try Tapas 13 if you are into that sort of stuff, the grouper ceveche and diablo shrimp were awesome. Old San Juan is a 30-45 min drive depending on traffic, they have shuttles for this as well as arranged tours through a local service but I would suggest taking a car so you can take you time. I took one of the arranged tours and felt rushed throughout. The beach at the resort is pretty nice, however the surrounding beaches were suprisingly dirty. You will find everything from drift wood to broken bottles to old tires stuck in the sand so be careful if you walk off of the resort beach. The resort offers a variety of water activities such as jet ski rental, catamaran rental as well at 2 pretty good sized pools. The food at the hotel is decent, however, it is extremely over priced for the quality of the food. Count on spending ~$150 per person per day if you are going to eat your meals at the hotel. Also make sure to get a rental car at the airport if you are staying here. You can rent a car at the hotel but the rate reflects the convenience of this option. The shuttle from the airport is pretty expensive plus its good to be able to leave the resort grounds for meals and local attractions. Overall there are plenty of activities at/around the resort and the room rate was pretty reasonable. My one strong suggestion would be to make sure you have a rental car, you will have to pay for parking but its worth it to be able to visit the surrounding areas.

The hotel is always great, including the staff. However, they always try to add a resort fee on the bill. The bill is prepaid through Hotel.com and there is no indication that there are extra charges other than parking, telephone or other personal expenses. This hotel is not a resort hotel. I do not see why I would have to pay an extra fee that was not indicatged by Hotel. Com.

This hotel was very beautiful, well maintained and very clean. The rooms were equally well maintained and a good size. The beach and the pool area's were one of my favourite features of this resort. Beautiful beach, large pools and awesome outdoor hot tub(big enough to fit 10 plus people). The location was amazing as were the staff of this hotel. My only 2 negatives are that in the eating area's the wait staff was pretty slow in taking my order and bringing me the bill etc.. My other negative would be the COST to eat and drink on the resort property. It is outrageously expensive to eat anything or drink anything here whether it's by the pool or the indoor resaturants; not worth the prices. I highly recommend eating and drinking elsewhere and not at this resort. Other than that, the hotel was awesome. Very long, clean and huge beach. Loved every part of the property.

The biggest negative is that the restaurants are pricey (especially for breakfast & a light lunch) and the food selection is limited. There was no "night life" beyond the lobby bar so we went to Old San Juan a couple of nights for dinner & a earby resort to hang out for dancing & dinner. It's smaller than some of the "resorts" we've visited which means it wasn't too crowded, especially during the week. I'd stay there again because of the quality of service but would also consider the larger resort a block up for more entertainment options (night club, sports bar, contemporary restaurants) and a younger atmosphere.

The resort was beautiful and not busy (stayed Oct/Nov 2010). It is about one hour from the airport but worth the drive (via taxi approx. thirty-five pp one way). Palomino Island is a part of the resort. You get there via the resorts free water taxi-its beautiful with many loungers, umbrellas, huge beach, food & drinks, & watersport rentals. Loved it!! There is no beach access right at the resort, but I didn't miss it. It is not a "party" resort but a peaceful resort (at least during my stay) with all the amenities. As everyone has said the food onsite is expensive, but if you rent a car, there are many local restaurants nearby...try the red snapper!! The resort is large, so as an FYI, depending on where your room is, it may be quite a walk to the main lobby area (restaurants, shops, bars, casino). We had a large ocean view room with a large balcony, the decor and furniture was not brand new yet the room was very clean & so large that I loved it! There was a small refrigerator in the room so you can stop at a store on your way to the resort and stock up on a few things to cut meal expenses. Staff were always friendly & attentive. I recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing vacation lounging by the beach, enjoying the watersports, swimming pools, golf, and perhaps a day trip to the rain forest-which is close by. We used the hotel's shuttle service back to the airport. If I have the opportunity to return to San Juan this is where I will stay!!

Overall, the hotel was a great hideaway and a great value. Set away from the beaten path with very few tourists, the hotel offered a very peaceful stay with beautiful sunsets, unobstructed from city lights, noise, and people. A car is a must, as the coastline just a few miles up from the resort is breathtaking. Food was limited, but reasonably priced. Suggest shopping for groceries and taking advantage of fridge in the room to store snacks, lunches, and suggest going to local resturants for main meals. The only downside to this resort was the proximity to the road and although it is lightly traveled, cars are noticible during peak hours, but because of the orientation of the rooms, only the ocean is visible. I would go back and would caution those looking for a full-service resort with lots of activities and luxury amentities to stick to more populated areas of PR.

Good: -Spend the extra money and stay at this Las Casitas Village resort versus the El Conquistador (they are both on the same premises). The resort is beautiful, very clean and the grounds are absolutely amazing including an infinity pool perched on top of a cliff with spectacular views of the ocean. -Laid back, relaxing atmosphere -Enjoyed eating breakfast on the outdoor terrace every morning -Very friendly and helpful staff -A Very Nice Private island. Enjoyable ferry ride that runs every ½ hour - (They are no beaches onsite) -Water Park was fun for adults and the kids -Nice golf course with magnificent views -Great authentic restaurants close to the resort -Close to Bio Bay and Rain Forest Bad: -The Funicular is the only means of transportation to the lower level of the El Conquistador resort that provides access to restaurants, Water Park, and ferry. There are 2 with a capacity of 30. Depending on time of day, we waited upwards in 2+ hours for a ride. This is absolutely ridiculous. -Average to poor overpriced food and drink on premises, Go offsite! -Over 1 hour ride from airport, not the best of locations off the resort -Everything is expensive, Water Park, restaurants, spa, golf, (be prepared) -The grounds of the resort are massive, be prepared to walk a good deal or call the butler service for a golf cart ride. I didn’t mind it. -The gym has outdated equipment.

We stayed in the newer rooms, which appear much better than the old rooms. A pleasant English Speaking staff attended to the basics. This is basically a three star hotel with an attached bar and restaurant, both of which we found pretty good for the price. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CAR as it is a mile or so to the beach. An open air dining room serves a good but modest continental breakfast. Overall a good experience and I'd stay here again, but to call this a "mini-resort" is a bit of a stretch.

I see what everyone was talking about when they said that this Hyatt did not live up to the same standards as the Hyatts in the States however that was not the biggest issue that I had with the hotel. I did not expect the same luxuries but since the standards are different, I did not understand why I was being charged a $20 resort fee for every night. Also, I did not like that the front desk closed at 11pm every night. We had to catch an early morning flight in San Juan and had to be out early in the morning. This seemed to be inconvenient because they did not want to return my incidentals deposit early. The parking was a bit confusing to be also. Some members were allowed to park in a lot in front of the hotel while others parked in a lot further away. I am not sure what the criteria is for each parking lot but on our last day they put a warning sticker on our car for parking in the wrong lot, which we weren't informed of upon check in. As I said earlier, the actual hotel was not the issue, I had problems with the hidden fees. There were nice views and the pool was nice. The staff was friendly. I do not think I would stay here again because of the lack of amenities (while they still charge a resort fee) and the distance to San Juan.

I reserved an oceanview room at the La Concha Renaissance Resort for Sept. 18, 2010 for a one night's stay prior to a cruise. Upon arrival to the resort we were greeted and were offered assistance with our luggage. Once we entered the resort the decor was just as it appeared from Expedia's website: very chic and modern/contempary with a very open lobby. Since we arrived around 3PM our room was not available for check-in but we were offered to have our bags checked and held by the hotel and were told they would call us once the room was ready. The Condado area is very walkable and has many shops and restaurants nearby for dining. The ocean behind the hotels is beautiful and makes for some very nice photos. The oceanview room was very spacious with a balcony and a very large window to view the ocean and the 2 pools below which opened to the beach. The furniture was very swanky and modern and the decor was lovely. The electronics were a very nice amenity especially the Ipod docking station. The bathroom was on the small side but I loved the open shower. The restaurants on the grounds offered a nice option for dining should you choose not to venture into the city though we didn't try any of them. I absolutely loved the amount of pools available and the hot tubs. The concierge service was great as well! The next time I visit San Juan again I will definitely stay here again and longer than just one night so that I will have more time to enjoy the resort and its many amenities.

This resort exceeded expectations. This is probably the nicest place I have stayed and I have stayed in some pretty nice places (4-5 star in Paris, Hawaii, Chicago). The grounds are gorgeous. The staff is the friendliest I have seen. Always wanting to help. Angel at the tour desk made our reservations for activites and clearly explained any details we needed to know. It is easy to go get a bike for biking or playing a round of golf. The room was probably the most basic that was available and was still over the top. It had an incredible bathroom and shower, very large room overall, cd player, porch with furniture, mini fridge that you could actually use (not just minibar fridge, but items were available for purchase if you like). The location was good for us right near the rainforest, but about 30 minutes from San Juan. Definitely rent a car but it is an easy drive. Of course this kind of service and presentation doesn't come cheap, but at least you get what you pay for. We visited another 4 star property in San Juan for gambling, and while it was nice, it wasn't over the top like the Bahia. So, despite the cost, there is a level of value here. No way I would return to Puerto Rico and stay anywhere else.
