We loved the Royal hotel. We've traveled all over the world, and it was one of the cleanest and friendlist we've ever visited. The front desk was always helpful and friendly- and great about scheduling vehicles and excursions. The food was good (through overpriced, though most of St Lucia is). Plus, we were across the road from a number of great restaurants and bars, including The Buzz and Memories of Hong Kong. Our room was cleaned twice a day, drinks were always yummy, and the food was cooked to perfection- though with a British twist. If we return to St Lucia, we'll definitely stay at a Rex Resort, and probably the Royal hotel.

Myself and my wife stayed at the St Lucian by Rex for 7 nights. The room was a little out dated and needed a bit of an upgrade but we only used it to sleep so we didnt have a problem with it at all. The housekeeping staff were excellent and cleaned the room every day (plus changed the sheets and towels). The air conditioner wasnt working properly when we got there but it was fixed within a couple of hours after we told the front desk. The maintenance staff (housekeepers, gardeners etc.) and the security staff were extremely nice but the bartenders, front desk and restaurant staff were very rude and unpleasant. It didnt bother us too much as we didnt get all inclusive and just ate out at different bars and restaurants every day. There was a small convenience store around the corner so we just bought some cereal and milk and had breakfast in our room each morning. The location was perfect and the beach was amazing. We spent all of our time on the beach and almost no time in the pool (why swim in a pool when you have a crystal clear ocean right outside your room?). Overall, the resort met our needs. As long as your a pretty easy going person who likes to get and explore and doesnt expect to be pampered, this place is perfect for you.

We would highly recommend the Coco Palm for best value for the $. The grounds and pool were beautiful, quite and relaxing. We would NOT RECOMMEND staying in the 'Creole' side of the hotel. It is extremely old and night and day from the main area of the hotel. Upon check-in we were placed in a Creole room - it was old and gross, nothing comfortable about it and woke up to a bathroom full of bugs... The hotel management went above and beyond to fix the problem and moved us to the main area of the hotel. From then on I would give the hotel a complete thumbs-up. The hotel food was fabulous. The only other things to be mindful of here is to make sure you ask if it is Happy Hour (5-6). We ordered a drink literally at 4:59 and were charged full price. Also, all prices were quoted in US$, then when you check out it is converted back to EC and then on your credit card US $ - which means they are playing the exchange rate (approx. 2.6 EC to 1 USD)up a lot! Robney Bay was AWESOME. I would recommend not renting a car and staying local to the hotel/resort.
