The hotel was nice. There is a break wall so you don't have the large waves. Nice beach area. Very clean. The only trouble we had was we had to call every day because housekeeping forgot to leave something.Food was good. Unable to drink water out of the faucets, bars and restraunts have purified water. Also have bottled water included. There is some shopping at resort (not a lot). There aren't any resorts in walking distance. Need to take cab. The cab drivers are at the resort and are reccomended by the resort. Beautiful area. Security around resort - didn't carry machine guns like other resorts.

The resort was a little off the beaten path. The some of the equipment was a little outdated. The room was nice enough but I got eated by mosquitoes every night. The beach was a little rocky out in the water. The entertainment at night was quite enjoyable. Probably the best thing about the resort was the Show every night. I wouldn't go back to this particular resort again though.

When I booked the resort, I was skeptical. The description did not match the price. The details sounded amazing - all inclusive including meals, unlimited drinks and water sports. When we approached the resort, all my worries disappeared. It was even better than the description online. The resort was very impressive. It was clean and very well managed. The staff was very accomodating and very hard workers. There was activities and great entertainment. This is the first time I have been to the Dominician and I will definitely come back. We also stayed in the Old City. Beware - stay at the resort. There is limited things to do in the city. After an hour, we wanted to go back to the resort. It is a hour taxi ride back and forth. This was by far the best value I have ever received from a hotel/resort.

Upon arrival at the resort, I was amazed to see that the pictures did not do it justice. The resort was immaculate and beautifully landscaped. One feature that was noticeable was the security. Me and my guest felt comfortable walking around the resort and also while laying on the beach. The employees were very friendly. Overall, a great vacation!

I went for a wedding and this resort was great for that. Had I gone just to have fun I would have been very upset. Leaving the resort was almost impossible so my Dominican experience was whatever the resort chose to show. The food was very UN-impressive. I was expecting to taste food of the culture and was very disappointed. The pools were nice and clean and so was the beach. The employess are some of the nicest people I've ever met. For the most part they went out of their way to be helpful. Only exception was the restaurants where you would wait a ridiculous amount of time for food and most orders were incomplete or wrong. I was also quite disappointed with Expedia's offer of a "Partial Ocean View". I paid extra to look at a tiny part of the ocean that could be seen far into the distance between 2 large trees and over the pool and beach. I would have rather spent the money upgraded to the preferred service at teh resort that provided free internet and top shelf alcohol but didn't know that option until I was there. ONce there it was too late as the resort was booked.

Overall my husband and I are happy with the choice. There were a few upsets our first day there, but we got through them and the rest of the trip was great. The only complaint I can think of is that we were turned away the second time we attempted to go to the Italian restaurant. Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The first night we went my husband was dressed in shorts, polo shirt and sandals, second night, pretty much the same thing but they refused to serve us unless he changed into covered shoes or long pants. But if you decide you don't want to change your attire for that particular meal, there are three other places to eat at the resort! The staff was always smiling and willing to assist. This was the first time out of America for both of us, we would most definitley choose this resort again. It is also very kid friendly. I was afraid of choosing a resort that wasn't for couples only. We have a young child at home, but we were going away on our honeymoon and I didn't want to be bothered by a bunch of screaming kids. There were plenty of kids there but it was so laid back and easy going they all blended right in. We would go back with our child the next time. I would also HIGHLY recommend flying in to La Romana. We met couples at the resort that flew in to Santo Domingo and paid well over $100 each way to get to the resort by taxi. The taxi rides can be a bit scary. They are ALL crazy drivers in this country, so just bring your blind fold and hang on!

This resort had a nice layout, decent restaurants and overall better than average service. However, I was travelling alone just for a few day trip primarily to dive. Though it isn't really the resort's fault this wasn't a good fit for me.

This is the best all-inclusive hotel I've ever been to! The service was excellent. It is a unique experience to go during the off-season: the weather is still good yet there is almost no one around! The golf cart you are given to drive around the resort is great fun. One activity we enjoyed most was looking at all the beautiful "villas" in the resort. The only negative comment I have was that the food was incredibly salty.

I just arrived from my 7 day, 6 night stay at this resort earlier this morning. I have to say that the employees are very friendly and helpful! Also, the rooms are nice in the Palace, better than the Beach, there was a plasma with lots of english channels, and channels in italian and french etc. Our maid was very friendly and nice, every day she would make a different type of animal out of the towels (swans mostly) also, she would put flowers in it and make them unique. It was very lovely of her. Also, the food is GREAT! especially the cheese and pizza, and menu options at the restuarants. You will never go hungry at this hotel because there is something open at every hour! the pizzeria is open from 7 pm until 7 am and breakfast is from 7 am until 11 and snack bar opens from 10 am until 1 am and lunch is from 12:30 until 3 pm and dinner is from 7 until 10. Also, there are lots of activities. I went windsurfing and it was included in the resort so it was free. It was great and i would recommend it for everyone however, its cheaper to buy souvenirs right outside the hotel in the gift shop called Jomary. the lady there was very nice too. Also, there are lots of italians, so it means lots of smoking and guys in speedos so if you find that uncomfortable then dont go during August, since thats when Europeans have vacation. Also, no one seems to have shame or care much about body imperfections, so you can still wear a bikini even with stretch marks, cellulite etc.

Viva Wyndham resort is very nice. My husband and my children were very happy due it is a family oriented resort. Surrounding are fantastic, food was very good and the menu have a full varieties of dishes even if it was in the same restaurant because we needed to make reservations 24 hours before and we did not have so much time to do that. Lunches at La Roca Grill were fabulous. Most of activities were in italian and spanish, but I speak spanish and love anything related to Italy. The beach was nice, very busy. Ocean was fantastic. Staff super-friendly, and taking care of their duties. Room was not that great, but everything funtioned accordingly. We wanted to enjoy the outside anyway. Shower and sleep in the room was all we needed. Front office was pleasant. The hotel is clean. We enjoyed the aperitivos on the beach and in the plaza while we were there which is champagne and hord'ovres. Resort offers several activities through the day and night. The gift shop inside the hotel have such great prices that I could not believe for basics and accessories. Gym looked well equipped. Resort have a Mini-Club that children can stay there form 10:00 to 6:00pm with a break for the staff in between which is fair enough. Beauty parlor have good prices, but I found better outside since I like to bargain. This resort is great for families and well priced paid.

Check-in was fine. A little confusing with no lines, but just step up to the counter and they'll get to you in a timely manner. This was me and my girlfriend's first all-inclusive and we'll definitely be doing another one. Mixed drinks were tasty and the El Presidente beer on tap in the dining hall was convenient. The food was definitely different, but never had a problem getting full - the midnight snack bar was perfect for soaking up the drinks from the late night disco. If anything about the resort needs work, it's definitely the rooms. Tile floors throughout, and you couldn't walk barefoot without getting your feet filthy b/c I don't think the housekeeping sweeps the floors. Beds were far from comfortable and you have to rent the TV remote from the front desk. All of the common areas of the resort are fine, and the nightly entertainment shows were awesome - especially the Michael Jackson tribute night. Props to the dance crews!!! Always felt safe at the resort and on the boardwalk to the beach. We even ventured out one night to grab pizza at a local spot and experienced no problems. I'd def recommend doing the excursion to Saona Island. It includes the bus ride to/from Punta Cana, a catamaran to the island, all drinks, a lunch buffet, and a jet boat ride. Overall, if you've never done an all-inclusive, don't be hesitant about this resort. We went on a 4 day trip out of Atlanta, and felt we got more than our money's worth.

the resort is beautifully maintained. Alll the staff were friendly and helpful. This resort is remote, so be aware that there is no where to go to right outside the resort. you can take a 20 minutes ride to San pedro or 30 min. to la romana proper. the beach was nice, pool is immense and the ground are well maintianed. The food at all the restaurants is very good with a good variety that changes daily. I would caution about the tours. we took the plantation tour which was horrible and a complete rip off. we aske d for half our money back, and with some insistance did recieve a refund. this had nothing to do with the resort itself. over all this is a great place to stay especially for the money.

We had an absolute blast on our trip! Two friends and I went for spring break. We didn't expect much when finding a 3 star hotel but were pleasantly surprised! The bathrooms were pretty run down and could definitely use an update, but that didn't bother us much. The pool area was great and the bar and entertainment staff were so fun! They talked and joked with us and remembered us throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious. Most days, we dinned in the buffet area where you can see the beach. On Sunday's dinner they had a dinning hall/buffet area open in the middle of the resort. It is definitely more local foods: beans & rice, meats in sauces, mixed veggies, and lots of tropical juices. They also had a grill out night with hamburgers and hot dogs and every night from midnight to 1am they have burgers, nachos, and hotdogs available as well. The discoteca was fun, although not many people were there the week we stayed. I recommend taking an excursion from the German hut located on the beach just left of the resort. We went to Saona Island and had an absolute blast. Beautiful beaches, natural pools, all inclusive bar, buffet, dancing, and lots of new people to meet! People will try to sell you stuff on the beach, it's way more expensive. If you go to downtown Santo Domingo everything is cheaper. Just say no to the beach sellers if you're not interested. Unless in the horseback ride guy - he's awesome.
