Sarasota, Fla., redefines small town America in the best of ways. Nestled on Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, it is home to some of the more interesting Sarasota resorts. A number of these resorts are waterfront, providing easy access to some of the world’s most pristine beaches. South Sarasota’s Siesta Beach topped the 21st annual list of Top 10 Beaches compiled by Dr. Steven Leatherman. As with every other top beach destination, Expedia has many options both on and off the beach to start your vacation today!

Sarasota beach resorts are especially popular at the height of the tourist season from November to March every year. There is something for everyone in Sarasota as this little town is passionate about art, music, sports and entertainment. Peak season or not, cultural events and street fairs abound in and around the area. The Ringling Museum of Art is the centerpiece of Sarasota’s thriving art community. The museum boasts of an extensive collection of European and modern art as well as circus memorabilia.

Waterfront homes are plentiful as 40 percent of Sarasota’s 25.9 square miles is water. Golf communities are also popular among seasonal and year-round residents. Either way, the lifestyle is one of easy luxury made more so with accessibility to high-end shops and restaurants. Guests of Sarasota Florida resorts are often pleasantly surprised to find so many leisure options. Aside from the beaches, outdoor adventures include bird watching, fishing, kayaking and kite surfing.

It is easy to see why Sarasota FL resorts continue to be a popular choice for seasonal residents, conventioneers and other travelers. These places provide all the amenities anyone could want: clean rooms, swimming pool and spa, on-site restaurants and live entertainment.

Sarasota has a soft spot for vacationers in recreational vehicles. RV parks abound in the area. Nonetheless, visitors and their camping vehicles are welcome in most of the county and state parks, subject to certain restrictions. Visitors who long for the comforts of home often find that staying in a Sarasota resort is a pleasurable experience. It is also a good way to make new friends with like-minded vacationers.

In the list of most desirable vacation spots, Sarasota has held its own against destinations that are more cosmopolitan. Let Expedia help plan your next vacation with its affordable resorts in Sarasota and diversity of locations throughout this beautiful region. It will continue to be popular in the coming years as boomers who spent family vacations in the local beach resorts are expected to return every season until they relocate permanently to claim their piece of paradise.

This resort is located on a beautiful beach in short walking distance from the rooms. Check in was not a good experience. We arrived an hour early (3:00 PM), check in was supposed to be 4:00 PM. We were put on a "call list" for our room availability and were told our room would be the next cleaned. We were not called until around 4:15 and the lobby was full of other people who were just arriving for check in times. They were all being told the same story we had been told an hour before. I am glad we came early! Our room on the fourth floor had a fantastic ocean view and a great air conditioner. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the pillows were very poor quality poly fill pillows. I inquired about feather pillows and the young man at the desk said he would check into it, took our room number, but never brought any feather pillows. So, I would suggest bringing your own if you are picky about pillows as we are. The sink in the bathroom was cracked in the bottom and looked pretty bad due to the crack, but it did not leak. There was also a small hole in the base board by the shower. This four story side of the resort is old and dated, but the view is sooo nice. I appreciated the tile floors. Our dorm type frig was adequate, but did not get very cold. Our dishes in the room were apparently hand washed in our rest room sink which was a bit disconcerting to us - were they washed that way before we came and used them? Housekeeping is very slow. We put out our please clean this room sign, were gone over an hour and when we returned she was just going into our room. It is really hard for me to call the section we stayed in a resort. It was really just an older outside entrance pricy beach hotel. Being on the fourth floor, we had no problems with noise or children running around. The pools are nice and there are three jacuzzis on the adult pool side. The free shuttle to St. Armonds Square was nice and we utilized it once to go to dinner and look around. It was overall a nice relaxing stay as we really did not spend much time in the room, however, I believe the name resort does not fit the portion of the hotel we stayed in. We did not go to the eight story building with the parking garage and lounge. We did carry out food from the grill in our section and the food was substantial and good. We were hoping for more luxury than we got for our money at this resosrt.

I booked this hotel, based on the reviews of hotels in the area. This one seem to get overall good reviews. The rooms are clean, but small, so this is a couples only type place. One of the beds covers half of the door to get into the bathroom, so good mobility is a must to stay here. It says it is a beach resort, but actually it is just a small motel, about a quarter of a mile from the beach, with an access walkway that is shared by a few other "beach resorts" that actually gets you to the beach. If you plan on leaving early, you need to make arrangements in advance, as no one is in the office from 10 at night until 7:30 in the morning. The one thing that I found about central and south Florida, is that everything is a resort, so use caution when booking a Resort.

We spent Labor day weekend at this resort with our 5 kids. It was very enjoyable. The unit was very clean and had everything needed down to the bottle opener! I soils recommend this resort to anyone with small kids and teenagers. We were in one of the units across the road by the pool but it was a very short walk to the beach something which all of my guys coped with.
