Great overall value. The Sheraton was a great resort. Timeshare people didn't really bother us. We had a balcony room with a great view. Room was quite plain, but was clean. Meals at the resort were a bit expensive so we found several local restaurants to eat. However, the Sunday champagne brunch at the resort was expensive, but worth every penny.(Peso) Don't be afraid to ride the bus town. Had a great 9 nights

We had an amazing time at Canto Del Sol. We couldn't believe all we got for the low price! I have traveled all over the world to tropical destinations. I am not a hotel snob but I do have good standards. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a great view of the pool and could see the ocean too! The resort grounds were very well maintained. We could tell that the people running the resort genuinely cared about their guests comfort and happiness. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was gorgeous. We loved the swim up bar! The resort is right on the ocean. We highly recommend getting some cocktails from the bar and sitting in chairs on the beach for sunset, with the ocean lapping at your toes, of course! All of the food was so good and there was plenty of variety every day. I am a vegetarian and there was plenty for me to eat. My husband eats meat and he was very happy with the choices. The staff serving drinks and food are very attentive. The resort is in a great location too. It's about a 20 minute walk into the downtown area or a 5 minute cab ride. The resort even has a nightly variety show at 8pm with dancing, costumes and comedy. Some tips: Even though they say gratuity is included in your all-inclusive package it's always appreciated when you tip the staff. I will say that the pool music begins at about noon and goes till 11pm. If you are looking for quiet time at your resort, this would not be the place!

Overall a great stay. Stayed in September 2011 and the resort was empty! It literally felt like we had the place to ourselves. Here are the highlights: Pros: 1. Location. Right in the heart of town for shopping and restaurants. The boardwalk is a good 10-minute walk, but not a bad walk at all. 2. VERY friendly and responsive staff. 3. Food is excellent. 4. Vanity separate from bathroom (helpful when 2 people are trying to get ready at the same time). 5. Pool area had sunscreen, books, and magazines available for anyone to use. Cons: 1. Balconies are not private. You can literally reach out and touch your neighbors on their balcony. Lucky for us, the resort was empty, and we didn't have any neighbors, but I would imagine during busy season, it might not be ideal. 2. Pool was dirty with bugs, leaves, and other debris. 3. Standard room is a little on the small side, but overall a nice room. 4. Bathroom and vanity are a little older-looking. 5. Elevators are really small. Barely enough room for 4 people.

The resort was good for the price paid. If you are expecting the ritz or some 5 star suite then this is probably not the place for you. We were here for a 3 day quick getaway and it served its purpose nicely. The convenience to the stores across the street where you can buy snacks and souveneirs is a nice thing and the location on the beach is an added bonus! The only thing to my dislike was the activities. There is not much to do, its very very small compared to most resorts i've been to, and the things to do are extremely limited ON the resort. If you are ok with sitting by the pool and swimming up to the bar, reading, etc all day then great. They attempt to have activities by the pool but the participation is few. There's only one bar & restaurant (the swim up bar is accesible even if ur not in the pool)...At night they open up another room that is a restaurant that you must make reservations for but it was fairly empty). I would however recommend eating there b/c it was delicious! This resort is perfect for older couples but we are in our late twenties so though the view and everything was beauitful in terms of scenery, i would probably stay somewhere more happening with a nightclub/more festivities and a younger crowd. There was a suites resort next door that seemed to have club parties at night and the music was going all day. Yayy!

Just returned from our 5-day trip to Puerto Vallarta (2 families, total 4 adults, four kids). The hotel is wonderful, brand new, and right on the ocean. We had booked two suites, both 1 bedroom, 1500 sqft with kitchen, two bathrooms, balcony, etc. Very nice rooms, great ocean view. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel every day. the food was awesome every time. They mostly served mexican or italian menu. Both their menus were excellent. Every one was willing to help. Their kids club worked out great for us. Kids spent a lot of time there, and it was easy for us adults to sit in the restaurant with the kids center nearby, so we could watch over the kids. We spent a lot of time swimming. They have multiple pools, mostly 4ft deep, and one pool that is about 2ft deep for the smaller ones. We would have enjoyed the vacation more if we knew spanish and could mix better with the hotel staff and the local crowd. Taxi stand and bus stops are right outside the hotel. A nice massage place (shaddai) is also right outside the hotel, and much cheaper than the hotel spa. Good massage. I wished the hotel had some activities to keep their guests more entertained. The hotel is medium size, not one of the sprawling huge resorts. The beach is small, so if you like big beaches, you may be disappointed.

Stayed for 10 days in March 2011. First room was very old and beaten up. Asked for another room, and next day able to move. Second room a bit better, except the hotel is very old and there is no sound insulation between the rooms. You can hear every word from next room. Staff was very friendly and hard working. Amenities are not so good as in similar resorts. Pool only one, water was clean and warm, there is very small beach not possible to enjoy to swim. Food was very good, varieties limited, drinks selection also good. Wifi which you need to purchase extra is a joke, very slow and expensive, $10/Day. Overall it was good experience for the money. But I do not think I'll be back, there are many better choices around
