The Radisson Blu is in good condition with nicely done rooms, an impressive pool, nice beach (though extremely quiet and isolated) and good service that reflects good management. The hotel staff were uniformly polite and helpful and, other than the hallways which looked like a motel, the entire physical plant was well kept. This is not a place to go for the resort however, as there are more impressive hotels in big resorts like Aruba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. It is a nice hotel with an interesting location. It is appropriate for families because it is quite compact and secure. The food was mediocre. Considering the location in French St. Martin it was totally unremarkable. The hotel has very good free WiFi almost everywhere. Many guests brought laptops. The hotel can only be accessed through a treacherously steep and poorly paved driveway that is several miles long. It is undriveable if wet. So, going anywhere is a chore. Once you are over the driveway, you are very close to Grand Case and Orient Beach (12 and 8 min respectively) but don't stay here if you plan to drive around often and want to be close to it all. You are ISOLATED. There are a few uninteresting restaurants adjacent to the hotel and another resort which is quite upscale. I strongly recommend eating out in Grand Case. There is absolutely nothing to do at night, no place to get a snack, no ice cream, not even vending machines. There is no place to grab a coffee as well.

My husband and I honeymooned on St. Martin for two weeks during the off-season, and we could not have been happier with our stay at the Marquis. We had an incredible view of Anse Marcel, and it was just a short hike down to the most beautiful beach on St. Martin. We had the delicious breakfast of fresh-baked breads, fresh fruit, fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee brought to our room every morning, not only because the resort staff is happy to accommodate, but because we simply couldn't get enough of that view! The staff was also more than happy to make restaurant recommendations for us, as well as organize daily car-rentals and excursions. They took such great care of us, and we will certainly return to the Marquis for future anniversary celebrations. A lovely, lovely place.

My husband and I were on our Honeymoon , this wonderful resort made it so very special for us. The people in Sint Maarten are the most welcomming , and warm hearted folks around . The resort is newly remodeled with breathtaking views from every angle . The housekeeping staff visit your room twice a day, if need be. The Great Bay Beach resort is what visiting a tropical paridise is all about!

My wife, daughter and I stayed at Captain Oliver's over Christmas. It's a nice place, and a good value. The staff was always very pleasant and accommodating. We requested another room from our original room to get something more updated, and the staff kindly obliged. The breakfast package for the three of us was very reasonable, and it was a nice buffet style with eggs to order. The restaurant was priced similarly to other venues of comparable quality. The pool was very clean and well kept, though some of the furniture was a little dated. The rooms have MAGNIFICENT views for the price, and the restaurant is on the water. For those planning to go to St. Barths, the ferry is less than 50 yards away from the restaurant so you can time your breakfast accordingly. The rooms were somewhat dated, but priced appropriately. St. Martin is not a budget destination. We own a timeshare across the bay at Oyster Pond, so we would go there during the day to spend time with other families and walk to the beach which is next door. Overall we liked the resort. My daughter and I prefer a little more resort amenities, though my wife prefers the simple and non-commercial style at Captain Olivers. One note that is not the fault of the resort: mosquitos. Make sure you bring protection of some sort b/c they are a nuisance at the resort in the rooms and in the reception area where you'll find free wi-fi for hotel guests. Good luck and enjoy!

The Sonesta was definelty a great resort to stay at. The service was fantastic, the grounds were kept in great shape, the food was great, the people were friendly and very helpful. We went during the low season so the hotel was not packed. It was really nice feeling like we had the run of the resort. We were very satisifed with the service and food. The staff was great with everything. They were even great with helping us plan out our days and activities. There are quite a few activities and places to visit. One of our days there, we were able to rent an open jeep for the day in the resort lobby and travled around the whole island visiting other beaches and markets. IT was nice stepping off the resort and checking out other areas of the island. Also, if you do this trip, you really need to go with the All Inclusive package. It is defiently worth it, between the food and drinks. Also, the resort provided each of us with a $10 voucher for the Casino everynight. We went everynight to the Casino which was right across the street. One word of caution is if you go to any of the public beaches, like Mullet Beach, make sure you do not take any valuables with you and watch your bags. One guy distracted us while another took our bag but luckily another tourist saw the guy hide the bag and we were able to get it back with everything in it. Besides this one stupid event the entire trip was fantastic.

We've been to St. Maarten many times and this was our first stay at the Sapphire. It is essentially a timeshare resort/hotel, not a luxury establishment. However, for independent travelers who are familiar with the island, it is an excellent value. We didn't need to consult with the hotel staff much, but when we did, they were very helpful and friendly. The daily housekeeping service was excellent. The beach is small and does come and go depending on the weather and it is not really child-safe. That said, it is a wonderful amenity available right on the property and we spent at least 5 days of our 14 on the island at our home resort. Mullet Bay is less than a 5 minute drive away and is one of our favorite beaches. Longue Baie, Plum Bay and Baie Rouge are also nearby and they are all lovely as well. The only downside of the Sapphire was a very poor gym with limited equipment, some of which did not work. If you can get your exercise by swimming in the beautiful Caribbean, then this should not preclude you from staying in this hotel.

The hotel was amazing but it was defintely far from everything. They also say they have ammenities at the hotel but they are located about 10-20 minutes away (not within walking distance). Also very disappointed with the cleanliness of the shower. There was mold on the floor and ceiling and it was very dirty for a westin. The shower also was not cleaned well after the made service. That was our only complaint. The pool was amazing. I'd also have to say that it was a little bit ridiculous that we paid a resort fee yet had to pay extra money ($75) to rent a cabana by the pool. For the amount of money we paid for the hotel, and it was not the "in" season, I would have thought they would be included in the resort fee or possibly cheaper since NO ONE was utilizing them.
