Sugar Bay Resort is a great place to go and just kick back. The rooms were very clean and the maid service was great. The breakfast and dinner buffets at the Manor was very good. The restaurants by the pool/beach area were simple but tasty. We didn't get a chance to go the the Italian restaurant but heard very good things about it. Service at the restaurants and front desk was 50/50 as far as friendliness and feeling welcome. The woman who runs the tours was probably the worst choice a business could pick for common courtesy and wouldn't even look up at you when speaking. All and all it was a great trip. It wasn't the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed at but defiantly a solid choice for the money.

We had a wonderful time here at Bolongo Bay. My two teenagers did not want to leave. Hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Restaurant food was excellent as was the food at Iggie's. Beach was great, swimming and beach activities kept everyone busy. Room was basic but clean - we didn't spend a lot of time in it. Grounds were well kept. Would definitely recommend this resort / hotel. Look forward to a return visit.

I was very happy with my stay at the Marriott Franchman's Reef. The food is very expensive so I suggest doing an all-inclusive which saved us a lot of money. It also included unlimited ferry rides to town and pool equipment rentals. Cabs are also very expensive and are per person. The staff at the hotel was very nice and friendly as were the staff at the restaurants but the service was very slow but I understand that is what it is like on the island. The resort is absolutely beautiful with great views of the harbour. The beach was clean and not crowded at all. The pools were great! My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Marriott and would recomend it.

I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here, and consider myself picky. My room was not ready when I checked in about 2pm, but they were more than happy to store my bags for me while I ran back to town. I really don't expect hotels to have rooms ready before 3pm anyhow unless I've specified different needs. The front desk service was very good and they called within 30 minutes of being in my room to make sure everything met my expectations and I was comfortable. The property is older, but I felt they've done a good job keeping it updated. I stayed there mainly due to the proximity to the airport on St. Thomas. This is not a "resort" but there are so many cabs, you can go anywhere you like. I did not go over to the resort across the bay which I think is a sister property, but it looked nice enough. The room was clean, the air conditioning (very important in the VI's in July!) cooled the room down quickly and was quiet. It had a newer flatscreen a fridge and I think even a coffee pot. It was big enough to move around and had a generous balcony overlooking the bay. The restaurant was well-kept, good menu, fantastic service. It's not the greatest water view in all the VI's but the bay is nice and the property is well-landscaped. I'd stay there again, no problem. It was quiet, convenient, and a good room value for the price range on St. Thomas or St. John.

Emerald resort is located on the BEST beach in st. Thomas. We traveled to several beaches and they couldn't compare. The actual resort was ok. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are ok. Slow plumbing, slight water damage in the bathroom, but most rooms are beach front. You get to listen to the water all night and play on the beach all day! You can walk to the resort from the airport! That was a plus. It's a long walk to the dollar taxis though. Regular taxis are $6/person. So depending on how much traveling around the island you wanted to do... Overall, I would recommend the resort.

I decided to book a last min trip to St. Thomas and was blown away by the hospitality that i received at the Ritz. The staff was amazing, helpful and overwhelmingly nice. The room was perfect and the food was the best resort food i have ever had. I will definitely come back to this resort. I was affected by Hurricane Irene and could not get back home, but the Ritz staff was great, helped me in any way they could and made it a stress free situation.

Pavilions and Pools is not a typical resort. If you want an experience similar to a Marriott resort, you may not like P&P. The rooms are not elegant, the physical structure probably is from the 80s and the cleaning service is not stellar. We do like it a lot though and have been to P&P probably eight or nine times in the last seven years. Why? P&P offers a quiet place to stay with your own private pool. You will be somewhat aware of other guests, but mostly that's at breakfast or if someone has a pool near you. You are in your own private space in the tropics. And let's be honest: skinny dipping is cool. The rooms provide a space more like a condominium than a hotel room. Each room has a wall of windows overlooking your pool. There is a separate living room and bedroom with a galley kitchen. So you can hang out in your room and go nowhere for a couple of days if that suits you. There is a small grocery store in Red Hook and a bigger one toward town. The walk to the beach is further than we care to walk and we like to get around the island, so we rent a car. That lets us go over to Magen's Bay, to Charlotte Amalie for dinner or wherever. If this sounds good to you, you probably will love it.
