I chose this resort because it was passed as a family friendly resort and while there were some activities for kids to do, it was all about drinking, dancing and partying. I do not think it was a family friendly environment after 630pm around the pool. It would be a great resort for young adults looking to have a good time without having to leave the hotel grounds. But as for family friendly, no it is not. I would not go back to this resort.

What else can I say? The Bolongo was everything I wanted out of it. It's not super upscale like some tropical resorts, but for what you pay it’s a steal. Nice pool and swim up bar. Good restaurant. Plenty of activities. Nice beach. Comfortable bed. Pretty nice rooms with good quality A/C units, which is a must. The best part about it was the staff. They were always very friendly and accommodating. I’ve stayed at 10 or 15 tropical resorts all over the world, and this one is middle of the road in terms of quality, but once you factor in the low price for St. Thomas resorts, the very helpful staff, and the abnormally comfy beds, I would highly recommend this resort for St. Thomas travelers that have some kind of budget. They even give you a rum punch as soon as you check in…

The resort was wonderful! I really couldn't ask for more. The location was great & the beach was beautiful. We stayed in the Morningstar resort and our room was gorgeous, spacious and clean. It is a large resort, so it never seemed overcrowded. The staff was welcoming and eager to please. I can't wait to go back. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else after my experience at this resort. I definitely recommend the all inclusive package. We opted for it and it is absolutely worth it. The prices for food and drinks are a bit high, so it more than payed for itself. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone planning a vacation to St. Thomas.

I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here, and consider myself picky. My room was not ready when I checked in about 2pm, but they were more than happy to store my bags for me while I ran back to town. I really don't expect hotels to have rooms ready before 3pm anyhow unless I've specified different needs. The front desk service was very good and they called within 30 minutes of being in my room to make sure everything met my expectations and I was comfortable. The property is older, but I felt they've done a good job keeping it updated. I stayed there mainly due to the proximity to the airport on St. Thomas. This is not a "resort" but there are so many cabs, you can go anywhere you like. I did not go over to the resort across the bay which I think is a sister property, but it looked nice enough. The room was clean, the air conditioning (very important in the VI's in July!) cooled the room down quickly and was quiet. It had a newer flatscreen a fridge and I think even a coffee pot. It was big enough to move around and had a generous balcony overlooking the bay. The restaurant was well-kept, good menu, fantastic service. It's not the greatest water view in all the VI's but the bay is nice and the property is well-landscaped. I'd stay there again, no problem. It was quiet, convenient, and a good room value for the price range on St. Thomas or St. John.

Pavilions and Pools is not a typical resort. If you want an experience similar to a Marriott resort, you may not like P&P. The rooms are not elegant, the physical structure probably is from the 80s and the cleaning service is not stellar. We do like it a lot though and have been to P&P probably eight or nine times in the last seven years. Why? P&P offers a quiet place to stay with your own private pool. You will be somewhat aware of other guests, but mostly that's at breakfast or if someone has a pool near you. You are in your own private space in the tropics. And let's be honest: skinny dipping is cool. The rooms provide a space more like a condominium than a hotel room. Each room has a wall of windows overlooking your pool. There is a separate living room and bedroom with a galley kitchen. So you can hang out in your room and go nowhere for a couple of days if that suits you. There is a small grocery store in Red Hook and a bigger one toward town. The walk to the beach is further than we care to walk and we like to get around the island, so we rent a car. That lets us go over to Magen's Bay, to Charlotte Amalie for dinner or wherever. If this sounds good to you, you probably will love it.

Emerald resort is located on the BEST beach in st. Thomas. We traveled to several beaches and they couldn't compare. The actual resort was ok. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are ok. Slow plumbing, slight water damage in the bathroom, but most rooms are beach front. You get to listen to the water all night and play on the beach all day! You can walk to the resort from the airport! That was a plus. It's a long walk to the dollar taxis though. Regular taxis are $6/person. So depending on how much traveling around the island you wanted to do... Overall, I would recommend the resort.

I decided to book a last min trip to St. Thomas and was blown away by the hospitality that i received at the Ritz. The staff was amazing, helpful and overwhelmingly nice. The room was perfect and the food was the best resort food i have ever had. I will definitely come back to this resort. I was affected by Hurricane Irene and could not get back home, but the Ritz staff was great, helped me in any way they could and made it a stress free situation.
