This is a great resort for the price. The pool areas were beautiful and basically empty (many times we were the only ones in).The units are individually owned but are governed by Best Westerns standards (colors, in room brochures, etc.)Don't worry about not being directly on the beach, it's not a good swimming beach anyway. Foliage in the resort is fantastic. Coconut Marketplace is right next door for supplies (don't get pizza there, it's horrible). This resort is in a great central location being halfway between north and south shores. I would rather be on the east shore than Poipu. The activities desk tried to push a nearby timeshare presentaion (not my cup of tea). The resort was all in all a solid value that I would take up again.

My wife and I stayed at the Kauai Coast Resort from May 18th-26th. The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had a one bedroom suite, which I highly recommend for couples. The complete kitchen definitely came in handy. We prepared ouselves breakfast every morning to save a few bucks. We ate our breakfast each morning outside on the lanai. We didn't have much of a view of the ocean, but it didn't matter for us, the view of the property grounds were pleasant enough. The location was good for us; it was a good in-between location for us to explore both side of the island. The beach at the is the resort isn't much and it is not really recommended for swimming, but it made for a good chill out place to end our long days. We only used the pool once. I'm sure other resorts have better amazing pools, but this pool was just enough for us. The room was very clean and very spacious. The resort also had a bunch of gas grills on the grounds for guests to use. We didn't get a chance to use the gas grills, but we saw many other guests prepare their family dinners on them. The resort is right next to the Coconut Marketplace. Although the marketplace seemed a little "dead" there are a few good places to grab some food. The shave ice from The Fish Hut was an awesome value... Overall, I would recommend this hotel/resort.
