We LOVE the Tree House and have stayed here twice now. The staff is friendly and we love the breakfast. Several local dishes daily served with fresh fruit and eggs. There is a great place to eat at this resort. Alan makes the best Jerk Chicken on the beach. You are right in the middle of the beach and the resort has two security guards at night to keep things safe. We will definately be back next year. Our needs are quite simple...we want a clean room with good beds and clean bathrooms. We don't mind outdated colors or older rooms. We don't spend much time in the room!

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway at an all-inclusive with no beach just a cliffside (i.e. no panhandlers) this is the place for you. View is beautiful, staff is attentive but not overbarring and food is wonderful (if you enjoy fish, chicken and standard American breakfasts). Did not particularly like that tipping was allowed at an all-inclusive, stressed me out a bit since I didn't know what to tip. But since the exchange rate was 85 Jamaican Dollar to 1 USD, I think anything is appreciated. We tipped the individuals that helped us on a daily basis near the end and then left a pool tip on the credit card at check out. I only left the resort one day to take a sunset "booze cruise", it was a good time and we snorkeled for 25 minutes. Rick's Cafe is only about 0.25 miles away so it's walkable, but I wouldn't suggest walking too much further. Things we learned...spring for the transportation to & from the airport thru The Caves (call ahead). It costs a little more, but is a direct shot to/from the airport. Otherwise you make stops at many other resorts and it takes 2 hrs, versus about 1.25 hrs direct. Get the cave hot tub at sunset, not moon light. You can't see anything for the moon, but sunset would be beautiful. You can buy all of the souveneirs you want at the airport, may be a little more expensive but much less hassle. Be prepared to be propositions for various "things," not at the resort, but anytime you leave. Finally, make sure you have a Dark & Stormy!

The DRIVE to this location is over a hour long from the Airport; expect to take the Tour Bus ($25.00 per person- One Way) or a Cab ($100.00 One Way). Once there at first glance at this Resort, you expect the worst. But after the check-in and the Escort directs you to you’re desired room; you will find out that this Resort isn’t that Bad. If you expect this Resort to be on the standards of the Major Hotels you’re at the wrong place. Some of the rooms at this Resort have a rustic style; if this is what you’re looking for, this is it. The staff was polite and very welcoming, very receptive to you’re needs. The food was okay; don’t expect a large serving of food or drinks (6oz cups). There isn’t an ice machine or ice containers in the rooms, so either you have to buy a bag of ice from the store of continue to get cups of ice from the bar area (6oz cups). Take the shuttle to their sister Resort (Legend) for the Beach and Sand; but stay at the Samsara for the Pool; Jacuzzi and the BEST VIEW. Plenty of places to eat on the streets; wear comfortable shoes/sandals for walking. Some of the natives can be entertaining while others can be a little annoying after awhile. OVERALL MY HUSBAND AND I WOULD RETURN.

Very Satisfied, Not a Resort by no means but an affordable accommodations. Security guys were awesome, real nice guys. Food was good, not outstanding. I would advise not to opt for "all inclusive" too many choices. Negril is a small village away from the big cities so it reflects more of what Jamaica really is. Staying at this hotel just enhances this. The Beach at Legends is very nice and to be able to go to their sister property on the cliffs is a huge bonus. If you're real picky this is not for you but saying you get what you pay for would not be accurate either. We defiantly got more than we paid for! I will always book for here or their sister property.

Rooms were adequate, could be updated but okay. The grounds were beautifully landscaped with florals and plants. The staff very friendly and helpful. If you're are looking for a lot of activities within the resort there is only a pool party on Mondays however you can book different tours. For families with small kids I wouldn't recommend, not enough for them to do there. If you want to just get away and relax this is the place. Overall I would stay there again.

This small hotel provided the necessary services in a clean and relaxed atmosphere. I preferred it to the large, impersonal "all inclusive" resorts. Located on the beach and close enough to walk to the open air craft market and downtown Negril. Other small resorts within walking distance provided a variety of restaurants.

Hotel room was large, clean and comfortable. Only thing that I did not like was the door to the room, which was a sliding door locked with one of those dinky luggage locks. Moreso than the lock, the door was a pain because it was off the groove and took a lot of work to open and close. But since we paid so little to stay here and everything else was perfect, I was able to live with it. This place is the perfect solution to all the pricey resorts

I stayed at Whistling Bird from March 11 - 17, 2011. It was everything I had hoped for, and more. The hotel is small; it's more like a resort, but it's not a resort like Sandals or Beaches. The reason I chose WB is that I hate big places full of pretentious, stuffy Americans.Whistling Bird was perfect. The staff there are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and will go out of their way to ensure your time with them is wonderful. They will quickly become more like long time friends than employees at a hotel. The gardens are beautiful and the beach is the nicest I've ever seen. The water is turquoise and crystal clear, and the sunsets are picture-perfect every night. The food at WB is absolutely fantastic. The Escovitched Fish is out of this world! My room did not have a tv, not that I cared; I wouldn't have watched it anyway. Parking can be a bit difficult. My only complaint is the phone system. You cannot make or receive calls from your room; all calls go through the office and there is not always someone in the office to answer the phone or place your call for you. Minor, but would be nice if it could be rectified, especially if you have friends in Negril you're trying to contact. The wifi works GREAT, and it's nice that it's free. If you want to see the REAL Jamaica, choose Whistling Bird. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to go back and am already brainstorming how to save money for my next trip. I most definitely left my heart at Whistling Bird.
