Let me first preface this review by saying that I stay in a lot of hotels & motels. I got what was considered a "good deal" booking this property online. The amount I paid was still way too high for this property. I stay frequently at places with ten times the amenities for half the price. More than 15 years ago I stayed here when it was a Holiday Inn and it doesn't look like it has changed one bit. For the "locals" there are radio and television commercials with a cute little jingle that goes something like, "Wyoming has a rhinoceros, they even have a hippopotamus....blah blah blah .... they got a great Days Inn!" You can see some pretty interesting wildlife taxidermy and many, many photos and articles on the walls showing the owner and his family on numerous hunting and fishing trips and many of those out of the area and the USA. Okay, so the animal mounts in the common areas & Safari Lounge are cool. The photos & articles are interesting. There are a number of pictures showing the owners/family wearing Holiday Inn t-shirts, so I can imagine there were some write-offs and I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with paying as much as I did for a room that hasn't come into the new millennium with at least some updates. Bathrooms so small you can barely turned around, carpet that is many decades old, nasty paint colors and a television that looks like what people try to sell for a dollar at yard sales. I was anticipating at least some modern colors, flat screen television plus newer linens & artwork in the room, but didn't find it. The decor theme looked like "horrid yard sale finds from the '70's and '80's." The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the continental breakfast was nice. The pool was closed for winter. The hot tub is outdoors and it is a VERY cold walk (sprint!) to and from in winter. In retrospect I should have booked a room @ Super 8, saved a lot of money and enjoyed an indoor pool & hot tub. This property advertises weekend "specials" and frankly I can fly to Vegas and stay at a nice resort for a weekend and the dollar amount is the same for the total trip expense. Not a good value @ Thermopolis Days Inn!
